This time, I brought to life the combat armored version of Tendou Arisu in Alice (Combat) cosplay from Blue Archive. Compared to her daily school attire, this combat version presented entirely new textural challenges. The wig was the absolute centerpiece. In my caption draft, I joked that "one wrong step and I'd look like a hobo," and that was genuinely how I felt. The deep blue-gray long straight twin tails feature massive hair volume; paired with side-swept bangs that must cover one eye cleanly while resting flat on the forehead, any slight humidity causes them to puff up or fly away. Before shooting, detangling the fibers and smoothing the ends alone took hours—this wig demands serious styling skills. In terms of texture, however, its blend of matte depth and subtle sheen paired delightfully with the high-gloss patent leather gloves, creating a striking visual contrast.
The visual highlight of this outfit lies in its sci-fi textures. The pure white halter neck combined with a deep navy Patent leather outfit corset creates a sleek waistline accentuated by geometric seam lines. The trickiest parts to wear were actually the gauntlets and leg sleeves—this high-gloss patent leather is extremely tight. Wearing them required eliminating creasing while retaining enough mobility to bend and raise arms naturally. On shooting day, the photographer was exceptionally dedicated; we chose a pure white studio setting to highlight every mecha detail through minimalist lighting. The prop rifle is substantial and heavy, requiring constant adjustments to balance standing postures and dynamics.
Photo 3's low-angle perspective specifically emphasizes the character's skeletal framing and commanding combat presence. Photo 5's seated pose represents a relaxed moment—taking off the boots to give the character a cozy, slice-of-life touch. In post-processing, we intentionally preserved the raw sheen of the leather without over-smoothing or aggressive liquifying, hoping viewers can experience the authentic material textures and character aura. While managing this styling was physically exhausting, seeing the final photos made every effort worthwhile. The details of this mecha suit perfectly complement Alice (Combat) cosplay's blend of cool detachment and mechanical precision.
This Alice (Combat) cosplay design imposes strict demands on lighting: without precise illumination, patent leather simply becomes a dark reflective blob that loses surface texture. The photographer utilized softboxes to ensure highlights fell precisely along fabric folds, giving the navy blue an oil-painting-like luster. This is why, despite the heavy materials, the images maintain clean clarity. The floating green holographic halo panel overhead was added in post-production; during the shoot, we placed small green LED markers behind the prop to assist alignment and ensure accurate eye catchlights. Holding the massive firearm prop—standing over a meter tall—made balance tricky, requiring me to plant my feet slightly apart with engaged core and leg muscles to steady my balance. The one-handed salute pose in the photo actually relied on supporting myself with the prop in the other hand; though it looks effortless, my entire body was actively engaged.
The leg styling also deserves special mention. The low-angle framing in Photo 3 truly tested leg muscle lines, as the hem of the shorts sits right at the thigh base, paired with tall patent leather boots that demand high leg definition. Prior to the shoot, I even spent two weeks on targeted leg workouts to ensure clean, toned lines on camera. After wrapping up and shedding the heavy gear, reviewing the final photos convinced me that this quiet, focused gaze best captures the essence of Alice (Combat).
Having cosplayed many anime characters before, rarely have I worn a look so thoroughly wrapped in patent leather. While patent leather easily attracts dust, in a pure white studio environment it catches light cleanly, making the whole frame look crisp and bright. The hard ABS black horn accessories had to be anchored securely within the wig base; though adding weight, they elevated the overall completeness of the design. The shoot lasted nearly four hours—from donning gear and adjusting wig angles to fine-tuning poses and expressions, the photographer guided me patiently. For instance, in Photo 2, when my weight shifted too far back, the photographer immediately noted it looked overly reclined rather than sharp, so we adjusted foot placement several times.
I often reflect that the essence of cosplay is not just wearing a costume, but capturing the character's soul. Poses that look effortless and cool require countless attempts to achieve optimal visual harmony. In particular, this one-eye-covered hairstyle can easily make facial expressions look rigid; only after experimenting with various gaze angles and subtle lip curvatures did I find the right balance between combat readiness and approachable softness.
