This time I am cosplaying Tachibana Sherry from Magical Girl's Witch Trial. The sense of layering in this outfit is extremely strong, and I spent quite a bit of time in the early stages on pattern-making and fabric selection. The black and white color blocking of the jacket has very high requirements: the white fabric needs to be crisp, while the black part should be relatively soft to achieve this cape effect. Outside the inner white shirt, I layered a black bow tie, a blue tie, and two small black bows on the chest. The details are extremely trivial and need to be fixed bit by bit with hidden buttons and positioning pins to ensure they don't move around while taking pictures. I processed the black hat on my head myself with white lace and blue-and-gold accessories, bringing out the three-dimensional feel of the prop. As for the wig, the light blue twin tails also took a lot of effort in trimming and styling; the curl at the ends needs to be natural, otherwise it will look very stiff. Before shooting, I sprayed setting spray and used hair wax to handle the details in order to maintain this fluffy feel.
The lower body is paired with a blue and white plaid pleated skirt. To make the skirt hem flow smoothly during photography, I added a hard tulle hoop inside the skirt, so even when sitting and taking a mirror selfie, it can maintain a certain silhouette. Regarding the choice of stockings, I used an asymmetrical design: one leg is a black over-the-knee long sock, and the other leg is a white lace short sock, matched with pink platform slippers. This asymmetrical pairing has a strong visual impact and is also a rather special point in the character's styling, but you need to pay attention to leg posture during shooting, otherwise it's easy to make legs look short. In terms of makeup, the eyeshadow used a reddish color scheme, paired with the light blue wig to form a cool-warm contrast. Because the top light of the mirror selfie is relatively flat, I used shimmering eyeshadow and aegyo-sal pen to increase the eye dimension. The circular magnifying glass prop held in hand is handmade by myself, and the frame paint finish was processed several times to achieve this texture now.
When taking this photo, my pet orange cat happened to pass by and directly lay down at my feet. Its expression of "done with life" was simply ultimate, completely stealing the spotlight. I originally wanted to carry it away, but after trying a few times, I found it just wanted to linger on the ground, so I finally framed it into the lens together, which instead added a strong sense of daily life atmosphere. During mirror selfies, due to the distance limit between the lens and the mirror, it's very easy to capture the messy background, so I intentionally placed the ring light at a side 45-degree angle, pulled open the white curtains to use natural light as the base light, which can effectively avoid reflections and make the captured skin tone more even. Raising the phone slightly and using a slightly upward-looking angle can make the body shape look slender. I actually took quite a few photos in this set, and finally chose this one because the dynamic sense is the most natural, and the texture of the stockings and the grid pattern are very clear straight out of the camera. Overall, cosplay is not only about restoring the character's appearance, but also a process of repeatedly polishing details and props. I'm quite satisfied with this Tachibana Sherry makeup and styling myself, and next time I'll consider trying outdoor locations, using different light and shadows to showcase this character. Today's finished photos will be kept as a record first.
