[Claret cosplay] Zenless Zone Zero's Matcha Cake: Loaded with Garment Details

Today I photographed this set for Claret from Zenless Zone Zero. Bringing her design faithfully to life required extensive upfront preparation. The outfit carries far more intricacy than expected—especially the white bodice, which features dimensional embossed jacquard patterns framed with rhomboid metal studs along the seams. Around the neck, the black leather choker studded with silver hardware and anchored by a metal pendant bearing a crimson diamond motif exudes an edgy, tactile weight. The billowy white sleeve cuffs and crimson ribbons trailing from the shoulders needed constant readjustment during shooting to maintain their graceful drape.

The lower half involves even richer layering. The red utility belt is accented with silver star-shaped metal insignias featuring crimson centers, while the black polygonal skirt flounces and tassets are trimmed with cutout details and silver rivets. The leg styling was a core visual highlight: white leggings channeling a Stockings cosplay vibe paired with silver knee guards, transitioning down to black leg warmers embellished with scarlet beads and white crisscross strapping. The boots are black with lace-ups that had to be drawn tight; to visually elongate leg proportions, I held poses continually on tiptoe while standing. Because the outfit includes numerous sharp metallic fixtures, I moved with calculated care to avoid snagging the white tights. Behind me, the long red-to-blue gradient cape ribbons trailed gracefully, requiring precise angle adjustments so the ombré gradation resonated under directional light.

The photoshoot was executed against a pitch-black backdrop with focused studio lighting. This setup allowed the crisp white fabrics and silver metal components to pop with crystalline definition while making skin tones appear luminous. To showcase the intricate lower-body details and elongated leg lines, the photographer favored high-angle downward framing, which flatters the garment's overall silhouette. As for props, since the original post joked about buying a matcha mini-cake in the absence of Roxy, I brought along a clear-packaged snack decorated with green motifs as an auxiliary prop. Posing with the cake resting beside my cheek or cradled in hand injected a relatable, slice-of-life charm that contrasted delightfully with the cold combat gear.

The pale blonde twintail wig required substantial fluffing for airy volume, with white plush pom-pom hair accessories anchored securely to either temple. To ensure the styling didn't appear flat under directional light, we continuously finessed the flow of individual tresses. For cosmetics, reddish-brown contact lenses were paired with pinkish-red eyeshadow and bold false lashes to lend animated clarity to the eyes. Rosy lips paired against porcelain skin projected vivid vitality across the dark background. The on-body presence of this ensemble was deeply satisfying; from front sigils to waist stars and studs, it faithfully mirrored the canonical Role-playing game art. While executing stances—especially crouching and leg extensions in lace-up boots and knee guards—tested my physical balance immensely, seeing the final edits made every minute of prep worthwhile. Centered on white, black, red, gold, and silver tones combined with subtly retro makeup, the final visual impact delivered remarkable depth.
