Recreating Oguri Cap from Uma Musume: Cinderella Gray this time was mainly to challenge my ability to portray a stoic and deadpan character. Honestly, rather than cold, Oguri Cap's personality is better described as intensely focused, making eye expression crucial. I specifically chose larger-diameter teal contact lenses paired with dark eyeliner slightly flicked upward at the corners, which, combined with cool gray eyeshadow, emphasized her distinctive detached demeanor. To make the gaze sharper, I used a fine brush to apply subtle shading along the lids, spending nearly three hours on the entire makeup process. For the wig, I selected silver-gray heat-resistant fibers and trimmed the bangs myself. The fringe across the forehead needed a naturally layered texture, while the horse ears on top were secured with an invisible hairnet and bobby pins to keep them from shifting while walking around the convention. The hair ends were also layered with textured, slightly tousled strands for a wild, unrestrained look. The costume is a blue-and-white modified kimono-style jacket, tightly cinched at the waist for a crisp appearance. The white trim at the collar is the centerpiece of the outfit; to faithfully recreate the original illustration, I removed the original faux trim and bought fabric to re-sew the binding. For the gold ring accessory on the chest, I searched several stores before settling on an electroplated alloy clasp that offered a superior texture, hanging at just the right height. The fabric wrinkles easily, so I ironed it twice before wearing. To match Oguri Cap's storyline in the manga, I prepared two giant crepes as Convention food props. Although printing the Japanese text on the paper wrappers was tricky, I printed high-resolution images and affixed them to the sleeves. The whipped cream and strawberries inside were realistic simulation props, complete with chocolate syrup, achieving great authenticity—heavy in hand and remarkably lifelike under lighting. The shoot took place during the convention amid large crowds; holding a crepe in each hand while balancing my expression—avoiding looking overly excited to maintain that intense focus of 'earnestly devouring food anywhere'—was key. To capture a flattering profile, I repeatedly adjusted camera positions on set. Holding the props steady while tilting my head required careful neck muscle control to create an intriguing contrast between my gaze and the food. What satisfies me most about this photoshoot is seamlessly blending the character's fierce track aura with her bottomless foodie nature. I am quite happy with the final result—avoiding excessive post-editing to preserve fabric textures and hair luster, hoping to bring the iconic Gray Meteor to life for everyone.
