[Keqing bride cosplay] Genshin Impact Keqing Bride Outdoor Shoot: A Natural Record in Chengdu's Winter

The last time I shot outdoors was actually at the end of August. Over these past few months, I spent most of my time doing studio shoots and busy with post-processing. This set of photos in my backlog was never released in time, so today I finally organized it as a nice memory. Winter in Chengdu is always foggy and hazy—sunshine feels like a luxury here in Chengdu, and it's completely understandable why crowds immediately spill onto lawns as soon as the sun comes out.

For this Genshin Impact Keqing bride cosplay look, the costume details are designed with great delicacy. The white satin main dress features a lovely glossy sheen, which, paired with the deep blue ruffles along the hemline, presents a soft and warm texture under overcast, gentle natural light. The white lace veil on the head has starry patterns, combining with blue bows and long light-purple hair to create a dreamy overall visual. White gloves and a floral bouquet add a sense of bridal ritual to the styling. The long light-purple hair needed careful combing during preparation; to match the hair color, I picked purplish-pink contact lenses and kept the makeup clean and light, striving to fit the character's temperament.

I really love the proportions of this outfit—the white thigh-highs outfit with fine lace trim along the cuffs, paired with chunky white platform heels, truly elongates the leg lines when worn. Thanks to the A-line skirt silhouette, it maintains a crisp outline whether standing or crouching, and the purple, black, and gold tri-color emblem on the side of the skirt can be fully displayed from specific angles. To align with the bridal theme, poses were chosen to be as light, playful, and soft as possible. Holding a bouquet, playfully looking back over my shoulder, or taking this crouching pose—all aim to show the character's lively and approachable side.

Outdoor photography heavily depends on daylight, and the weather on the shooting day was actually far from ideal. Winter in Chengdu is often blanketed by fog and thick clouds, and we didn't get the long-awaited sunshine that day. Natural light was very soft without harsh shadows; while it lacked the translucent brilliance of a sunny day, an overcast day has its own advantages—skin tones and garment textures are preserved exceptionally well. The reason I've always preferred outdoor shoots is that 2D characters exhibit a vibrant, lifelike state in real environments. Outdoor flowers, plants, and trees blur into soft bokeh through a wide aperture, making the character feel as if breathing in this real world. The location had many pinkish-purple flower bushes and greenery, which served as a perfectly fitting background.

Although outdoor lighting was poor, as long as white balance and saturation are appropriately adjusted in post-processing, natural color fidelity can be maintained. There were also a few minor episodes during the shoot, such as having to be extra careful walking on muddy garden paths in platform shoes to prevent slipping, and adjusting many times to capture the ideal skirt angles. During framing, the photographer intentionally utilized the depth of field along the path, placing the figure right in the center so the background flower bushes looked completely natural, seamlessly merging the character into the environment. Although this backlog photoset was shot early, organizing it still brings back memories of feeling chilly in the wind while remaining deeply immersed in character during our Cosplay daily life. I hope to smoothly schedule another outdoor shoot on a sunny weekend next time and experience being under bright sunshine.
