For these convention hall photos at Ryoga Summer Festival, I cosplayed Formidable from Azur Lane in her Bunny girl outfit. When I received this costume, I knew texture was paramount: the top uses a pearlescent, glossy fabric that reflects wonderfully under the convention hall's harsh overhead lights, though it easily risks overexposure if lighting isn't carefully controlled. To support the garment's sculpted silhouette, I wore the proper undergarments and adjusted the back lacing straps in advance. The bunny ear headpiece is extremely eye-catching—one ear standing upright and the other flopping down, accented with black lace and white ruffled bows—paired with an ultra-high ponytail. I chose a silver-white wig with blunt bangs, creating ample volume for the hairstyle. Makeup-wise, to channel the character's aloof, tsundere persona, I drew winged eyeliner, wore pink colored contacts, and used reddish eyeshadow to echo her eye color.
The convention venue was buzzing with crowds, and the direct overhead spotlights cast harsh light. To achieve optimal results, I sought out a relatively dark backdrop, utilizing the overhead lighting as a side rim-light to define my body contours. The first photo is a standing glance over the shoulder, fully revealing the back, shoulder, and neck lines; angling my stance sideways beautifully displayed bust curves and the cinched waistline of the corset. The semi-sheer lantern sleeves are a distinct highlight of this costume; I let the pleats drape naturally to display the black lace cuffs and white cross ornaments. The second photo is a kneeling pose, chosen to better showcase the back cutout design, white crisscross straps, and fluffy plush bunny tail. Wearing Black stockings while kneeling on the dark floor created a sharp black-and-white visual contrast with powerful visual impact. The crisscross lacing and the white lace trimming on the shorts were also fully displayed in this kneeling position.
Although I avoided wide, drastic movements to maintain poise, the corset was remarkably tight, and combined with the heavy bunny ears, the shoot was quite a workout for stamina and core strength. In retouching, I refrained from excessive skin smoothing or blurring, preserving the authentic sheen of the glossy fabric and natural light on skin; my primary adjustment was darkening the background to conceal messy convention elements and highlight the subject. It was a wonderful convention experience where I also exchanged wig-styling and makeup tips with fellow enthusiasts. I will be editing and sharing more photos from this outfit soon.
