From receiving the outfit to completing the hair and makeup, this Little Cheshire cosplay look took plenty of thought and care. In particular, the headpiece—with its combination of tiered lace and gold embroidery—was not only heavy, but also tended to block the light during shooting. Yet, to recreate that opulent charm, I insisted on keeping every single detail intact. For the wig, I selected a silver-grey base with teal-green highlights on both sides; to echo the eye color, I specifically chose gradient contact lenses in matching tones (Blue hair colored contacts). Once worn, the gaze truly carried that "cat-like" languid charm and lively spark much more than usual.
For makeup, I deliberately softened the sharpness of the eyeliner, sweeping blush broadly across the mid-face and under the eyes, paired with a soft-matte lip shade to give the overall temperament a sweeter, softer feel—after all, Little Cheshire gives off that playfully mischievous yet clingy vibe. We tested various angles during the shoot; I was particularly pleased with the chin-resting pose in Photo 1, as the hand gesture naturally softened the shoulder and neck lines, preventing the ornate neckline from looking bulky. The black-and-white lace patchwork and metallic chain accessories on the Lace dress displayed rich layering under studio lighting, which is why I chose a clean white background to make the textures of the garment stand out.
We actually set up some plush props on set, but in the end, I only selected these close-up shots because I felt tighter portraits convey the eyes and expressions much better. For highlights, I made a point not to over-flatten them, preserving natural skin texture so it wouldn't look artificial over time. This styling poses quite a challenge for shoulder width and neck length because of the wide collar ruff; without mindful extension, the neck can look short, so I constantly adjusted my center of gravity, using gentle head tilts to balance visual proportions.
Furthermore, the contrast between teal-blue and silver-grey can be tricky to handle—if the skin tone isn't fair enough, it easily washes out your complexion. So, I used pink blush as a transition to bridge the cool-toned hair and warm skin tones. In post-production, I only did subtle color corrections without excessive airbrushing, as Anime cosplay textures need to retain a touch of authentic realism. The shooting process was very relaxing without demanding strenuous action; instead, these quiet moments of resting my chin on my hand or winking playfully captured the character's essence. I'm quite satisfied with the final photo set and hope it faithfully conveys that unique big-cat aura from Azur Lane.
