Swipe right to spot the differences together! Actually, for this Hanayo Qipao Awakening outdoor photoshoot, I only realized after editing that the poses in these two solo photos were duplicated identically, even the angle of the raised arm was exactly the same. This set of photos was taken in April when the weather had just turned warm. New leaves were just budding in the Chinese garden, and traces of dew remained by the cobblestone path, making it look highly refreshing when paired with this green-toned "Qipao Awakening" outfit. During the outdoor shoot, I specially chose two kinds of props: a folding fan and bingtanghulu (candied haws). In Picture 1, holding the folding fan showcases Hanayo's gentle and elegant side; in Picture 2, switching to the candied haws adds a touch of an idol's playfulness and life atmosphere. Although the props are small, the folds of the fan and the reflection of the candied coating under the light and shadow both serve as great embellishments.
I absolutely must praise my photographer Diaodiao and makeup artist Xiaolan. The framing and composition perfectly align with Chinese aesthetics, fully bringing out the negative space and lighting atmosphere of the cobblestone bridge and the ancient architectural corridor eaves in the background, creating a highly coordinated relationship between the character and the environment. Regarding the hair and makeup, Xiaolan was very meticulous in restoring Hanayo's signature short hair with double buns and hair accessories. The translucent makeup paired with the character's creamy skin tone made the overall temperament fit the original work perfectly, beautifully capturing the aura of an Anime girl.
Looking back, Hanayo's character personality inherently carries a quiet yet hard-working vibe. Therefore, during the shoot, I intentionally toned down overly expressive facial expressions, using eye contact and interaction with the props in my hands to bring out the character's vibrant energy. Returning to the costume itself, the print details are actually incredibly rich. Although most shots presented medium or full-body views during filming, I specifically preserved the clarity of the sleeve edges and waist tassels during post-processing. At the same time, I used LR and PS to add soft diffused light to the environment, enhancing the translucent feeling of late spring and early summer.
I am indeed a bit "slow" when it comes to editing photos, habitually putting them aside before re-examining the light and shadow structure to guarantee the quality of the solo photos. That's how this funny "pose twin" discovery happened. Currently, this set of solo photos is completely finished with fine retouching, and I am highly satisfied with the overall texture of this Cosplay photography work. As for the group photos, we are still waiting for the schedule and venue coordination of the other µ's members. Although it feels a bit "far out of reach," I am eagerly looking forward to releasing photos with my partners soon to complete the group atmosphere. For now, I'll peacefully share this solo outdoor shoot with everyone.
