For this shoot, I chose a blue Plaid pattern cat Maid outfit; the overall color palette is a fresh light blue and white. The headwear features fluffy Cat ears, edged with soft white fluff, while the inner ears are pink. To match the headwear, I selected hair accessories with a blue-and-white Plaid pattern and pearl tassels, along with a white lace maid cap. The wig is long, curly brown hair, with blunt bangs to frame the face and a few loose strands left on the sides. This look has a lot of elements, but the colors are kept within blue, white, and black, so it doesn't feel visually cluttered.
In terms of makeup, to fit the overall Blue theme and maid concept, the base makeup is quite sheer with a matte finish. I used a low-saturation pink-brown eyeshadow, naturally elongated the eyeliner, and paired it with light amber colored contacts to soften the gaze. To enhance the cute vibe, blush is swept generously under the eyes and on the cheeks, and a bit of highlighter is used to brighten the tip of the nose and cheekbones. The lipstick is a glossy pink shade, making the complexion look great. The eyebrows are drawn relatively straight and dyed slightly lighter to echo the hair color. The focus of the overall makeup is on the eyes and the flush of the face, softening the edges of the lips to create a natural, airy feel.
The design details of the Maid outfit are very rich. The collar is a white lace stand collar, adorned with black scalloped edges. There is a black bow on the chest, along with light blue heart-shaped buttons. The cuffs feature a puff sleeve design, covered by a semi-transparent blue tulle outer layer, spliced with a blue-and-white Plaid pattern and white lace, and tied into bows with black satin ribbons. The waist is a midriff-baring style, featuring blue-and-white Plaid pattern suspenders and metal buckles, with crisscross lacing on both sides to give a slight corset effect. The skirt below is also a combination of Plaid pattern and lace. It perfectly aligns with the classic silhouette of a Maid outfit while adding a unique lightness specific to this costume.
Shooting was done under indoor natural light. To highlight the layered texture of the outfit, I held up a peace sign next to my face in the first photo, and placed a clenched fist at the collar in the second. This helps showcase different emotions and outfit details. Because the colors of this outfit are quite bright, I chose a solid color wall as the background to avoid visual clutter. The camera was angled slightly upward during shooting, making the head-to-body ratio more proportionate and showcasing the headwear better. I didn't opt for collages; single shots straight out of the camera allow the texture of the clothes and makeup details to be seen more clearly. For light-colored outfits like this, the camera's white balance and exposure compensation need slight adjustment, otherwise, it's easy to overexpose and lose the lace details, so some thought was put into lighting during the initial shoot. The entire shooting process was very enjoyable. The design of the blue-and-white Plaid pattern paired with fluffy Cat ears is indeed very youthful, and the overall look has a high degree of completion. I hope to try more bright-colored styles like this in the future.
