Today's makeup test and photoshoot for Emilia mainly focus on the handling of details. The core of this character lies in the visual impact of long straight silver-white hair and purple eyes. The wig was chosen to be a glossy and smooth-haired style, with the top fluffiness built up bit by bit using hair wax and a straightener. The blunt bangs need to be trimmed just right—not too heavy, otherwise it will block the gaze. The sideburns on both sides are key to modifying the face shape; they need to fit the facial contours and bring out a slight sense of tousled mess.

For the eye makeup part, purple-themed contact lenses were used to restore the character's eye color. To enlarge the visual effect of the eyes, the lower eyelashes were intentionally pasted densely using single-cluster false eyelashes, matched with dark eyeshadow blended on the lower eyelid. Blush was applied under the eyes and on the tip of the nose to enhance complexion. The lip glaze was chosen to have a pinkish texture, creating a translucent feel. Great effort was put into the base makeup this time because of facing high-definition lenses, so a foundation with good coverage but not thick was chosen, paired with setting powder to ensure it won't get shiny during long-time shooting.

On the costume, the neckline is a white-based, purple-edged sharp-cornered turn-down collar, accented with a small orange button in the middle. The green diamond gemstone on the chest is the visual center, refracting a very nice texture under the lights. The clothes adopt an off-the-shoulder design with purple straps on the back, and the overall color contrast is very striking. To perfectly restore this attire, I adjusted the uprightness of the neckline against the original art beforehand to ensure it maintains a perfect shape during shooting.

During the shoot, to highlight the elf's cold and distant feel, facial expressions were controlled in a calm yet penetrating state. The composition mainly focuses on the upper body, utilizing soft lighting to set off the facial contours. Cosplaying this character requires a strong ability to control details, ranging from wig trimming to makeup color matching, all centered around the purple eyes and silver-white hair strands.

During the actual shooting process, the angle of the lighting is crucial. Since the wig color is relatively light, strong direct light makes the hair strands lose details and turn into a solid dead white, so the photographer mostly used rim light combined with a softbox, which not only retained the layering of the hair strands but also made the facial contours look more three-dimensional. In addition, because the purple saturation of the character's costume is relatively high, special attention was paid to balancing skin tone and clothing color during post-processing color grading to avoid color casting in the picture.

Many friends have asked about hair styling questions, especially for long straight hair with blunt bangs. In fact, the secret lies in layered trimming and styling, using a hair straightener to create a natural curve at the roots, and fixing it with hairspray using small amounts multiple times. Although the outdoor location this time was simple, through depth of field control combining blur and sharpness, an atmosphere matching the character's setting was created.

Every time I do cosplay, I feel it's a process of leaping from 3D to 2D. It's not just about putting on clothes and wearing a wig, but more importantly, understanding the character's personality and conveying it through gaze and body language. For example, when shooting this set of pictures, I would intentionally keep my posture upright, with shoulders slightly pulled back, which better showcases the details of the neckline and the gemstone on the chest. To make the facial contours closer to the character's settings, I also intentionally controlled water intake before the shoot, cooperating with highlight and contour makeup to make the bridge of the nose and cheekbones look more three-dimensional. Although the whole process was exhausting, the moment I saw the final photos, all fatigue vanished. The prop gemstone this time was also lightweighted to make it easy to adjust positions during shooting, ensuring it is always at the best reflection angle in front of the lens. I hope these experience sharings of mine can give some reference to friends who want to cosplay similar characters.
