[Raiden Shogun Cosplay] The Severity and Grace of Genshin Impact's Raiden Shogun

The Raiden Shogun cosplay photos from Genshin Impact shot at Miyou Miaomiao House selfie studio are finally out! Special thanks to photographer Tugougougou for the lens work; the pre-production prep work with Touzi actually took quite a bit of time. The weight of this costume exceeded my expectations, particularly the shoulder pauldrons, waist metal ornaments, and the katana with a red-and-black woven hilt. To capture the majestic presence of the Raiden Shogun, we experimented with several studio lighting schemes, ultimately choosing a hard key light combined with top lighting to highlight the costume's white-and-purple palette and metallic luster.

Many people asked about the fabric of this outfit. The white portion of the top is custom matte fabric with a deep V-neck opening, paired with a matching custom grey-purple choker and a thin red rope bow tie in the middle—I'm quite satisfied with the level of accuracy. The sleeves are wide Japanese-style kimono sleeves lined with purple fabric, with fitted wrists. The rigid shoulder pauldrons on the arms, adorned with golden embossed relief, are quite heavy, somewhat restricting movement. The obi sash structure is complex; securing the layered purple-and-white obi took nearly half an hour just tying cords. The golden ring pendant in the center of the waist belt, complemented by long yellow tassels, serves as the visual anchor of the lower outfit, raising the energy immensely. The lower half features a dark purple miniskirt paired with sheer black knee guards bound with blue-purple straps, crafted from highly textured material.

As for the wig, Touzi helped me style blue gradient highlights and handcrafted a flower headpiece featuring purple petals and tiny yellow stamens. That long, trailing gold tassel reflects light beautifully under top lighting, which, combined with smooth dark bangs and coolly elegant red lipstick, truly builds a sharp, imposing aura.

We shot three main poses in total. The first is a standing sword-drawing pose, raising the blade overhead with one hand while the other hand executes a defense or casting gesture; keeping the body elongated and fluid without stiffness required solid core strength. The second is a high-angle seated shot with the sword laid horizontally before my knees—my personal favorite, as it showcases the drape of the fabric against the backdrop's blue textures and golden geometric lines, maximizing atmospheric feel. The third is a side-facing kneeling posture, right hand gripping the hilt with the blade slanted, maintaining a stern gaze. Interestingly, to evoke lightning effects, the photographer applied hard contrast lighting, sharpening highlights and shadows while accentuating costume textures.

This set of cosplay photos is more than just putting on a costume; it's an expression of emotion toward this character from Genshin Impact. The Raiden Shogun has a complex, contradictory storyline in-game—her resolute pursuit of eternity beneath that cold exterior contains many nuanced layers. Through this photographic portrait set, I wanted to convey her unwavering determination alongside a cool, heroic composure. Part of the joy in cosplay lies in living briefly within Teyvat during a few hours of shooting, experiencing the solitude and decisiveness of a formidable ruler. The Shanghai photoshoot booking and setup at Miyou Miaomiao House selfie studio was highly professional, with excellent backdrops, prop umbrellas, and lighting support yielding efficient results. All the effort froze into place with every shutter click. Though exhausted after wrapping up, seeing the finalized shots brought deep fulfillment. I hope to deliver more Studio photography of this quality in the future.
