Directly shooting this set of Honkai Impact 3rd Bronya's Promise of the Azure Sea, what I cared about most was actually how the costume's structure supports the overall look. Different from her usual heavy, mechanical setups in Honkai Impact 3rd, this look adopts a blue and white sailor suit collar structure, making the overall style much more refreshing and summer-oriented. The blue piping and yellow criss-cross lace-up on the white sleeveless dress, along with the striking yellow tie and smiley face prop on the neck, form the core color scheme of the visuals. The blue anchor emblem on the side of the dress and the print of Bronya's English name also add more character recognition to this white dress.

The makeup and hair are the soul of this look. The silver-white short hair is a signature feature of the character, especially the left side which requires a spiral-like coiled wig treatment. Because this kind of hairstyle easily wobbles when shooting or walking, I specifically did a meticulous hidden-wire fixation inside the wig, and used several layers of hair tracks at the base to stack up the volume, ensuring it has fluffiness without being easily messed up by the wind. The blue sailor hat on top is adorned on the side with a decorative flower featuring a yellow pistil and white petals; this small accessory happens to neutralize the oppressive feeling of the cool-toned wig, bringing out a bit of fresh temperament.

For this outdoor photography session, we split it into two time periods to shoot. When shooting by the water during the day, the water surface had wonderful glistening reflections, which, combined with natural light, displayed the layers of the white dress perfectly. The pose in Photo 2 of turning back while sitting on the floor tiles was actually to let the sailor collar fall naturally, while showcasing the design details of the cutout on the back. Shooting night views like this was much more challenging. Once the magnificent European-style castle architecture complex in the background lit up with warm lights at night, the water surface formed quite beautiful reflections. The night environment required a very strong flash to suppress the background highlights, otherwise the character's face would be swallowed by the environment, which also placed high demands on the photographer's snapshot angles.

Regarding props, I intentionally brought along that matching plush monster prop with a large-eyed yellow smiley face. Although it only makes a full appearance in Photo 2, holding it in my hand or tucking it by my side during the shoot adds a lot of fun to the frame, creating an interesting front-to-back echo with the decorations on the dress neckline. Running the entire shoot actually required a lot of stamina and attention to detail; the spiral wig has some weight when turning around, and the stitching of the skirt hem needs to be tidied up at any time to avoid wrinkles. However, seeing this set of photos present different textures under natural light and night views makes it feel completely worth it.

As for photo editing, there is a reason why I said in the post that I was too lazy to edit. My personal understanding of outdoor photography outputs leans more toward restoring the texture of the costume itself and the real light and shadow relationships. If the natural negatives have their light properly arranged in the early stage, the post-processing only needs minor adjustments. For this shoot of Promise of the Azure Sea, what I wanted to present more was a cooling sense of blowing in the summer shore breeze. Although sailor suit styles are very common in cosplay, how to shoot the character's own agility and the lightness of the costume makes on-site communication with the photographer exceptionally important. For example, the moment of leaning against the railing and looking back in Photo 3, or the pose in Photo 4 with a finger gently resting on the chin, are all meant to capture a casual vibe. Looking at it comprehensively in the end, the effect under the night castle lights is indeed more brilliant than during the day; the warm light source hitting the cool-toned blue and white outfit forms a very powerful visual impact.
