[Remilia Cosplay] Majestic Moments at the Scarlet Devil Mansion | Touhou Project

I wrapped up a Touhou Project photoshoot set at Miku Studio, centered around the mistress of the Scarlet Devil Mansion herself, Remilia Scarlet.

Prep work for this shoot was actually more complex than expected. Because of the layered Gothic Lolita dress, adjusting the petticoat silhouette and trimming the wig alone took considerable effort. For the outfit, I chose a classic black and red color palette: the outer skirt features a deep burgundy velvet texture edged with black lace and ruffles over a white base layer, creating rich visual depth. Puff sleeves framed with lace trim paired with a black lace headpiece, iconic short wavy blue wig, and red hair accessories completed the ensemble. Makeup-wise, a pale foundation paired with red lenses and eye makeup emphasized her mysterious, intimidating aura.

For footwear, I opted for red Mary Jane high heels paired with matte black tights. Under studio spotlights, the contrast between leg lines and layered skirts was captured beautifully. To align with the Scarlet Devil Mansion aesthetic, leg proportions play a vital role, and this combination offered an ideal balance of comfort and aesthetic appeal.

We utilized two main studio setups: a luxurious scene featuring red velvet drapes and a long table set with exquisite tea sets and desserts, and an elegant setting with parquet wood flooring and a carved European sofa. Both fit her character design impeccably. In the curtain scene, holding a red sphere or raising the trident alongside black devil wings behind me let me channel her icy aloofness through my gaze. On the sofa, I shifted to a relaxed, lazy seated pose with a fluffy white tail draped behind, capturing the mistress's carefree afternoon mood.

Touching on a few shooting details: holding the trident steadily was trickier than expected due to its length and weight, requiring subtle arm muscle control to project effortless ease on camera. The photographer leveraged low-angle shots with this prop to accentuate her regal presence. However, as Remilia inherently possesses a mischievous streak, I incorporated playful expressions and micro-movements during close-ups—glancing sideways or tilting my head slightly breathed vivid personality into the character without feeling overly stern.

Lighting for this shoot was meticulously tailored: key lights illuminated eye catchlights, while backlighting traced the silhouette of the devil wings and cast a dreamy, magical shimmer across the wig's edges to recreate an authentic Anime cosplay visual effect. From outfit color combinations to prop selection, every element stayed faithful to the essence of the Scarlet Devil Mansion, resulting in an efficient, smooth session and a thoroughly satisfying character shoot.
