[Remilia Cosplay] Touhou Project Scarlet Full Moon Moment on the Dark Throne

This gothic-style Remilia cosplay set was finally completed just in time for the scarlet moon. As a deeply fascinating character in Touhou Project, I hoped to present her aura of coexisting majesty and mystery through the lens.

A lot of care went into the set design, makeup, and styling for this shoot. The makeup specially featured red contact lenses paired with the classic blue hair look, combined with fair, cool-toned foundation to fit the paleness of a vampire cosplay. The costume referenced the original dress silhouette, incorporating a lot of gorgeous damask satin and black lace. The layered veil on the hat, together with the choker featuring cross details, gave the overall look a richer Gothic Lolita feel. For a vampire, elements like red apples and skulls carry strong symbolic meaning themselves—suggesting the temptation of prey as well as expressing the boundary between life and death.

The lighting design on set had a distinctly cinematic feel. Crosses accented with red light and cool teal smoke played off each other, reflecting onto the glossy black floor to create vibrant color contrast. The throne and ancient pillars established a secluded, ancient realm atmosphere. I remember during the shoot, photographer LetuLiututu was exceptional at capturing facial expressions and movement details—such as subtle fingertip placements while holding the red apple or deliberately lengthened leg lines in seated poses—which added immense credibility to the character.

This time, I chose sheer black tights paired with black high heels, which offered both elegant intellectuality and a seamless fusion with the lightness of the lace. The seated composition perfectly showcased the layered textures of the gorgeous skirt and the styling of the legs. The subtle patterns on the stockings and those sharp black high heels were key details completing the overall look.

Beyond the overall composition, I also adore the atmosphere in the close-up shots of this dark style photography set—whether it's the profile holding a red apple or the moment playing with a skull, both project an air of effortless control. Some angles during shooting required maintaining demanding seated poses, but under the atmosphere of the smoke, it actually allowed me to slip into the character's languid yet arrogant sovereign state much faster.

Through this photography session, I wanted to fully convey my understanding of this Touhou Project character. Whether it was the capelet or the subtle shimmer of the skirt, the outfit produced an immensely brilliant effect under complex studio lighting. I highly recommend fellow fans of dark or gothic aesthetics to try this kind of scenery; adding a few red element accents when styling makes it easy to build a unique, mysterious, and grand demeanor.

While organizing the photos, seeing those striking finished shots got me so excited to share these meticulously crafted images. I hope the styling and set design this time bring everyone an immersive experience as if stepping into Gensokyo under the scarlet moon.
