I spent quite some time preparing this Touhou Project Marisa Kirisame cosplay look, primarily aiming to highlight the timeless classic aesthetic of the black-and-white palette. Since she is inherently designed as an ordinary magician, the costume features generous lace and ruffle elements paired with an oversized black witch hat and her iconic Broom prop, giving the overall atmosphere a distinct Gothic and Vintage style.

During the shoot, we experimented with three different camera angles. The first shot captures me leaning sideways against the wooden railing; lifting the skirt hem naturally elongates the leg lines, while the white stockings (White tights cosplay) look wonderfully textured under the warm lighting. The second shot shows me facing the camera holding a candlestick, primarily highlighting facial expressions and hair/makeup details. The third is an overhead high-angle shot on the wooden stairs—the photographer climbed up high to create dynamic perspective with a wide-angle lens, making the legs look elongated and adding spatial depth to the frame, though holding the Broom prop for so long left my wrists a bit sore.

We chose this vintage wooden staircase setting to complement the gothic elements of the character. The vintage posters on the wall and candlesticks serving as foreground or background accents infused the frame with rich narrative depth. In post-processing, we intentionally preserved warm tones and shadow details, ensuring the lace texture and fabric weave remained crisp while avoiding overly artificial retouching to maintain a natural, adorable maidenly charm.

We also paid special attention to the angle of the witch hat, ensuring it revealed the curls and braided pigtails of the wig. While the black-and-white combination looks classic, it can easily appear rigid, so the skirt layers and splicing ratios of black and white lace were adjusted repeatedly. The pairing of white tights and leather shoes is an essential visual hallmark of Marisa, which we strove to feature throughout the shooting angles. Although the multiple layers made it somewhat warm and the props were rather bulky, the final photos turned out fantastic, giving me a deeper appreciation for bringing this character to life.
