This time, I cosplayed Remilia Scarlet, the eldest daughter of the Scarlet Devil Mansion from Touhou Project. Although canonically I am an ancient vampire who should naturally fear sunlight, when I put on this outfit and stood on the wooden bridge, I couldn't help but want to break this so-called "common sense." In fact, if you think about it, even if she is afraid of light, slipping out once in a while during the softest afternoon sunlight to catch a breath of fresh air and enjoy the freshness of the lawn and greenery can be considered a kind of gap moe. This secondary-setting style outfit took a lot of thought in the details. The layered ruffles of the white dress pair perfectly with the wine-red bows, and the gradient bat wings on the back, combined with the red spear in hand, present a unique color clash under the bright outdoor light. For this shoot, we specially chose a wooden boardwalk and lawn in a park, utilizing natural light to highlight the texture of the costume and the layers of the wig. We also encountered small challenges during the shoot, such as how to keep facial exposure even during backlighting, and how to hold the long prop in dynamic poses to make it look natural and not stiff. In terms of pose design, besides the classic sitting position and standing with the spear, we also tried some slightly tilted dynamic movements to make the frame more vivid. Actually, the charm of a secondary setting lies in being able to give the character more of one's own understanding. Rather than perfectly recreating the original design, I prefer to incorporate expressions belonging to my own aesthetics while retaining the core elements. For example, the focus of this coordination is placed on the contrast between white and red. Combined with the light blue hair color, the overall visual looks both lightweight and carries a hint of mystery. The weather on the shoot day was great, and the feeling of sunlight spilling over the skirt hem was fantastic. Although a vampire eldest daughter enjoying the sun is a bit out of character, who says a cute little girl can't be playful once in a while? This set of photos counts as a very satisfying ACG outdoor location attempt of mine recently. From the preparation of costumes and props to the lighting scheduling on set, every step was handled as meticulously as possible, hoping to deliver that elegant yet somewhat willful feeling of Remilia through this project of Outdoor cosplay photography and Vampire cosplay.
