Today at World Line Comic Con, I cosplayed Rem from Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World-. Instead of going with the iconic maid uniform, I opted for an everyday sporty coordination: a white spaghetti-strap camisole as the base layer, casually draped with an oversized colorblock track jacket in black and white with yellow racing stripes. Wearing this was not only much lighter, but also kept me from overheating while navigating the crowded convention halls. To complement this outfit, I tested several wig styles before settling on a short, textured light blue bob paired with a black lace headband accented by small white floral clips.
A special mention must go to the pink hair ornament on the right. Formed from bent wire and tubular plastic into a dimensional bow with criss-crossing bars and long dangling strands, it looked stunning but carried noticeable heft. Balancing it on my head took precision, and with the dense foot traffic of a convention, it could easily shift, so I found myself gently steadying it throughout the event. For makeup, I wore vivid blue colored contacts, keeping eyeshadow and blush within a peachy-pink palette true to the character design, topped off with a soft pink lip. Aiming for a translucent skin finish, I kept the foundation relatively light, which inevitably meant harsh overhead convention lighting cast prominent shadows and uneven skin tones in raw shots.
Hence, an advance disclaimer: sincere heavy retouching apology for this set! Post-processing primarily refined skin glow and calibrated the overarching color grade for a pristine finish, as raw ambient hall lighting was quite chaotic. For the shoot, we moved outside the venue where the reflective glass curtain wall cast cool blue-gray tones that harmonized naturally with the Blue-haired girl aesthetic. The photographer guided me to angle my profile with a tilted head, brushing back my hair while letting the jacket slide off the shoulder. This posture actually required constant wardrobe adjustments; if the jacket slips too far or the zipper hangs awkwardly, shoulders can easily appear bulky or disheveled, so I continually fine-tuned the shoulder straps and collar line between shutter clicks.
After a full day on the convention floor, while the outfit itself was lightweight, keeping the styled wig intact under the pressure of that pink accessory was undeniably tiring. Nonetheless, walking away with these Convention photos made every moment worth it. I particularly adore the color clash here—the vibrant contrast between sky blue and bright pink delivers an eye-catching visual punch. As a cosplayer, bringing each character to life is a process of continual adjustment and experimentation, steadily accumulating experience across costume fit and makeup refinement. I hope this casual sporty take on Rem brings everyone a refreshing perspective!
