[Xiao Wu Cosplay] Soul Land Convention Photos, Sharing Beijing ijoy Anime Convention Returns

During the Beijing ijoy Anime Convention, I received quite a few convention photos, around fourteen in total. This wave is considered the most concentrated set of returned photos I've received since debuting this look. Here I've sorted out six specific images with different angles and compositions, serving as a complete record of this convention trip.

The costume design utilizes a lot of reflective and glossy elements in its materials, including that large pair of metallic-textured rabbit ears, a silver-and-pink paneled top with a reflective coating, white ruffled armguards, and a pair of uniquely styled silver high-heeled boots. These components are highly susceptible to interference from on-site light sources in studio shoots or convention photo environments, but the sets shared here are very well-handled in terms of light and shadow processing. The compositions of standing and sitting postures can more completely display the overall silhouette of the costume and the drape of the skirt. Especially the one with the standing posture in the photos allows for a fairly intuitive view of the entire skirt's tailoring and the silver-white decorative details at the waist.

The reflective effects of the garment's glossy material under complex light sources—such as the highlights formed on the chest and the edges of the skirt hem by the frontal fill light—are actually very difficult to fully reproduce under natural light. These photos beautifully capture this reflection and clearly outline the contours of the facial features and makeup. The pure white tights and bright silver high heels paired on the lower body create a sharp visual contrast against the dark floor, which also makes the center of gravity of the overall look appear quite stable.

The overhead lighting at the convention venue was actually more cluttered than imagined, and combined with the exhibition hall's lights leaning cold, it posed a bit of a challenge for skin tone recreation. However, during the on-site shoot, the photographer made excellent use of flashes and external photo light sources to balance the background brightness. Like that dynamic shot of kneeling on one knee and the snapshot with an extended hand, although the range of motion was large, the lens caught the flowing elegance of the cuffs and skirt hem that is hard to notice when stationary.

My original intention for wearing this costume was to recreate the character's agility, so whether jumping, sitting, or moving forward, I tried my best to pay attention to the lines of the legs and upper limbs. Walking around the convention venue all day in those highly stylized metallic high heels was indeed a massive test of physical stamina, but having captured these sets of convention photos, being able to showcase the character's temperament and costume details through different perspectives makes it a highly meaningful experience. From these convention photos, the coordination effect of lighting and background bokeh in a convention environment can also be intuitively seen, which holds great reference value for improving costume details and adjusting camera angles in the future.
