This photoshoot was set in a Billiard hall, themed around Rem from Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World-. Because the indoor lighting for this set was quite complex and the billiard table felt absorbs a lot of light, we specifically brought a fill light during early shooting, and the photographer adjusted the ISO to preserve both skin tones and the lace details of the dress as much as possible. The outfit chosen was the staff uniform from AngelsHeart; the black-and-white dress has many layers, especially with generous ruffles on the lower half that easily spread out when walking, requiring the skirt hem to be smoothed out before posing to avoid obscuring leg lines or looking cumbersome.
Because we were shooting on the pool table, where the surface is hard, movement design mainly utilized billiard cues and balls as props. For example, in the fourth seated photo, to highlight leg lines, I deliberately extended one leg forward and pulled the other foot back within the space opened up by the skirt hem, taking care to keep the toes pointed straight, which paired perfectly with white Stockings to make the legs look long. Holding the cue also required mindful wrist tension to avoid looking stiff. The shot bending over to take a shot was actually attempted multiple times because it required balancing facial angles with arm extension; furthermore, since the cue is long, failing to control the center of gravity makes one look like they're tumbling forward, so keeping the core engaged during shooting was essential.
Regarding hair and makeup, the short blue hair paired with head accessories matched the character's vibe very well. The bow tie and apron pleats of this Maid outfit are quite three-dimensional with strong camera presence, yielding great shots without exaggerated expressions. The lighting in the Billiard hall was predominantly warm-toned and fell softly across the face. In post-processing, no extreme alterations were made—mainly balancing the ratio of light and shadows so the background neon sign (F1LA POOL), once blurred, wouldn't steal focus from the subject. As for this shooting experience, I find this collision of blending 2D style into 3D everyday scenes very intriguing; using recreational sports props like billiards allows for many poses beyond conventional standing shots. While adjusting poses and skirt hems back and forth was tiring, seeing these photos naturally showcase the charm of the Maid outfit and faithfully recreate the original setting makes this photo set extremely satisfying to me.
