Inside the ChinaJoy expo halls, the energy surrounding the Identity V booth surpassed even our highest expectations. Taking my assigned station, gripping that heavy firearm prop in both hands, the deep forest-green Velvet long dress wrapped securely around me, cinched tight with a black leather corseted waist that demanded measured, controlled breathing. Yet under the convention stage lighting, the rich textural presence of this ensemble was utterly breathtaking.

Across the bodice, silver-and-white metallic crests intersected with brown leather harnesses, crowned by silver wing-sculpted pauldrons and sleek black leather gloves on my hands. Prepping the wig alone for this convention demanded immense labor: the long white locks had to project an airy, effortless volume with just a hint of lived-in disarray, while the blue-and-yellow feather headpiece required precise angular pinning to prevent warping during crowd movement. The metallic round-rimmed rose-filigree glasses were an undeniable visual focal point; the prop carried noticeable heft, requiring discreet reinforcements behind my ears so it wouldn't slide off whenever I tilted my head to inspect props.

Serving as an official coser at an expo demands not only upholding the character's mysterious presence but also remaining continuously responsive to passing cameras. Posing with a firearm prop looks straightforward, yet holding it suspended in mid-air over extended stretches left my arms burning with fatigue. To optimize framing, I communicated angles closely with photographers, often holding a frozen stance and intense ocular lock for several seconds to nail a single clean capture. In the clamor and swelter of the convention floor, wearing such dense, unbreathable layers takes a massive toll on physical stamina. Between shooting waves, I ducked into cooler backstage corners for brief respites, dabbing blotting tissue gently over my complexion to safeguard the foundation before swiftly touching up lipstick and stepping back to the booth.

The artisanal details of this costume were exceptionally considered: the sweeping cut of the gown's hemline, the crisp white lace frills along the cuffs, and the black leather belt lined with cartridge sleeves all directly anchored canonical accuracy. For me, the true magic of cosplay begins the moment the wardrobe is secured and the makeup is set—stepping into an entirely different narrative identity where even the cadence of your movements must be deliberately recalibrated.

From early morning to evening closing, the human tides never ceased. Moving through the hall, watching passionate players in diverse attire connect and snap photos together fostered a palpable camaraderie impossible to replicate online. Whenever I raised the prop with crisp, poised alignment before the lenses, beholding the compositions on the playback monitors made every drop of pre-production toil worthwhile. Once back home, the soiled underskirts must head straight to the dry cleaners, while the props and filigree glasses need thorough polishing and maintenance. With the next event already lined up, equipment upkeep can never be taken lightly.
