[Mitsumi Iwakura cosplay] Skip and Loafer Shining Beneath Clear Skies

This Mitsumi Iwakura shoot was in preparation for a long time. To capture that radiant, summer-infused vitality, the location was deliberately set in an expansive sunflower field. Sunlight was abundant that day, filtering through the foliage to cast gorgeous rim lighting along my silhouette. Such natural lighting places high demands on color grading; I intentionally stopped down the exposure slightly during shooting to better preserve the vibrant petals and the rich details of the bright blue uniform, allowing the colors to turn out richer and more saturated in post-production.

A great deal of care went into the wardrobe and props as well. The blue blazer and pleated skirt were crafted from fabric with a graceful drape so the costume held its crisp structure even during energetic leaps. The red tie served as a vivid focal point, styled with a firm, three-dimensional knot. For the hair, the wig was trimmed through multiple iterations to balance the density of the bangs and the gentle inward curl at the tips, ensuring it stayed composed even in the wind. The dark backpack slung over my shoulders, accented by a petite panda charm, was an essential detail elevating character accuracy.

Regarding footwear styling, pairing black calf-length Stockings with brown loafers is a combination I personally love—it not only remains completely faithful to the original design, but during running and leaping movements, the space between the Stockings and the skirt hem beautifully flatters the leg contours, making the overall silhouette look longer and lighter. Posing in the flower field aimed to reflect the character's candid, spirited demeanor. From holding up a sunflower in cheerful triumph to carefree single-leg hops, the goal was to bottle that effortless sense of freedom. To capture the skirt's most natural flutter in mid-air, I leaped across the grass over a dozen times until we nailed the ideal frame.

Later, we transitioned to the street to capture bicycle scenes with a basket brimming with sunflowers. That sequence required riding steadily while holding a natural smile and syncing with the photographer's pace, which honestly tested my sense of balance. In directing facial expressions, the character is an earnest, thoroughly endearing girl, so my gaze couldn't wander—it needed to engage the lens directly with an open, heartfelt grin. Maintaining handle stability on the bike while managing expressions took several run-throughs before finding that relaxed groove. The metal railings around the sunflower field posed some framing limitations, so during crouching and low-angle shots, we tested multiple perspectives to eliminate unwanted elements and keep the background clean and pure. I hope this series captures that everyday, vibrant warmth and permanently freezes the character's lively spirit through the lens.
