This Suisui cosplay from Wuthering Waves demanded immense dedication from costume preparation to outdoor location shooting, but seeing the final photos made every bit of effort completely worthwhile. As you can see, the outfit's design uses white as the primary tone, interwoven with blue gradient fabric and golden embroidered patterns; the overall style captures both traditional Chinese classical elegance and the nimble liveliness of anime. In particular, the cold-shoulder cut and trailing streamers offer a wonderful fluttering drape in motion. However, to capture that serene, cascading layering of the streamers while stationary, quite a bit of care was needed to adjust their placement—sometimes using transparent tape or small clips hidden out of frame to ensure a clean shot.
To recreate the character's traits, I selected this pale golden wig, trimming the blunt bangs and sidelocks; paired with yellow-green contact lenses, my facial contours and the character's spirit immediately took shape. For makeup, the focus was placed on the eye styling and blush to craft an aura filled with lively grace. Warm-toned eyeshadow harmonized with the blonde hair, and individually defined false lashes were chosen to sharpen my gaze. The black gloves and red wrist ornaments served as crowning touches; crafted from semi-matte PU leather, wearing them instantly deepened the character's signature feel.
The location was chosen in a traditional Chinese garden. The first and third shots were framed through an octagonal window portal. Such frame-within-a-frame compositions truly test physical posing. To avoid looking rigid, I sat on the windowsill with legs naturally crossed and draping downward—this elongated the leg lines while breaking up the stiff geometry of the window frame. Glossy black block-heel pumps stood out vividly before the lens, forming a sharp visual contrast with the white costume and red ties. With lush green trees in the background, the white wall, dark window frame, and emerald greenery framed around me produced a remarkably rich color palette.
The middle photo was taken by the lotus pond. The lighting was very gentle that day, and the expansive background of soft, blurred green lotus leaves evoked a palpable summer mood. The giant translucent folding fan in my hand features exquisite golden patterns on the leaf, displaying gorgeous texture and ideal light translucency under natural illumination. Using the fan to veil part of my face or resting it lightly by my side added storytelling depth to the composition. The fan's blue piping echoed the outfit, and the fan ribs were meticulously handpicked.
In outdoor shoots, managing light and wind is always the steepest challenge. With streamers this long, the slightest breeze causes them to flutter uncontrollably, requiring the photographer to keep a watchful eye to capture their aesthetic trajectory. Furthermore, sitting on a windowsill looks relaxed, but keeping the core engaged and leg lines extended proved quite tiring after several takes. Overall, being able to cosplay Suisui from Wuthering Waves in such a historically resonant garden was a fantastic experience, and I hope this beauty translates to everyone.
