Let's start by sharing the shoot for Rei Ayanami cosplay in Type D Equipment from Neon Genesis Evangelion. The red background was created using solid background paper illuminated with studio lights. The key during the shoot was coordinating with the purple Mecha armor base and red power cables; since the armor components were relatively heavy, maintaining a stable posture while posing was crucial. Shooting in a skin-tight suit was quite an experience—the material is relatively stiff with low breathability, having a strong plastic sheen and glossy reflections, which places high demands on body shape, particularly testing leg lines and core abdominal support. This session focused on full-body shots, and the red backdrop was chosen to create a striking contrast against the white combat suit. Stepping barefoot onto the icy cold purple Mecha armor required gripping firmly with the toes to avoid slipping down. For the hair, a blue-grey short wig was chosen, paired with red colored contacts and reddish makeup around the eyes, which required a lengthy fitting and styling process. In terms of Photography post-processing, Pepzzr incorporated AI for part of the texture blending, especially smoothing the gradient transition between the purple armor's reflections and the red background, while refining leg muscle lines to better match the anime's stylized proportions. The shooting angle was a semi-low upward angle to give the seated pose an imposing visual presence. This outfit featured no stockings, purely wrapped in a tight combat suit, requiring careful control over creasing at the upper thighs. Throughout the process, we constantly communicated angle alignments with the prop crew, especially ensuring the red cable rested flush along the back without obscuring the armor structure. To achieve the 3D depth shown in the final images, retouching primarily went into managing specular glare on the suit and noise on the Mecha. For the yellow glow lit up in the eyes of Unit-01's purple armor, the luminous feel had to be boosted during Photography post-processing. To balance a cold, detached aura while showcasing flattering leg shapes, the composition subtly elongated the legs, pointing the toes toward the edge of the frame. Although wearing this heavy armor was physically demanding, the final outcome met all expectations, and the shooting process went relatively smoothly without major hindrances.
