Teaming up with my partner this time, we brought to life a punk-rock stage series from Neon Genesis Evangelion. Seeking to break free from the traditional sci-fi mecha framework, we incorporated bold, rebellious transformations into our wardrobe design. For the Rei Ayanami cosplay, the styling featured a blue beret paired with a silver-gray cutout knit inner top; diamond cutouts at the waist and cascading red straps introduced an audacious edge, while plush sleeve trims softened the rugged denim jacket. In terms of makeup, alongside the signature crimson contacts and cyan bob, I specially adorned the beret with cross charms and black bobby pins to align her aesthetic with that of a charismatic rock lead vocalist.

The Asuka Cosplay ensemble, on the other hand, favored a fusion of classic red-and-black plaid collegiate elements with raw punk aesthetics. The black leather beret, eye patch, and semi-sheer white mesh sleeves caught the stage lights with sharp textural presence. Brandishing an electric guitar throughout the shoot demanded managing both instrument heft and bodily dynamism, genuinely putting core stability to the test. Staged against an abstract backdrop of swirling red and black, we had to maintain rigorous facial composure under searing studio spotlights while actively engaging the camera through body language. When gripping the vintage microphone, I intentionally extended my left arm outward to open up physical lines, evoking that high-voltage kinetic energy of a live concert arena.

To authentically recreate that authentic concert atmosphere, we dedicated immense effort to our propcraft. Although the guitar was a prop, I specifically practiced hand placement, string fretting, and grip postures beforehand to ensure movements appeared organic before the lens. The microphone's positioning was similarly readjusted multiple times—veiling portions of the face to weave mystery without obscuring the silhouette of the mic itself. Wig styling required meticulous care: the cyan hair needed lasting volume to prevent looking limp under intense key lights, with the tapered ends requiring repeated thinning and trimming to achieve their final layered silhouette. Discreetly concealing the eye patch's strap was equally crucial to avoid disrupting the delicate eye makeup.

The shooting journey felt remarkably like performing an intimate live gig. The visual punch of the red-and-black canvas, synthesized with our leather, lacing, faux fur, and metal accessories, imbued the compositions with rich, tangible depth. Although static frames, every shutter click was an effort to channel that electric aura of live musicianship and vocal performance. Seamless coordination between us was vital—the shared eye contact and synchronized postures in the dual-character shots lent profound narrative resonance to the series. This creative breakthrough in styling and prop application was a thrilling endeavor that unveiled the vibrant, alternative vitality of these two icons in a parallel universe. I hope everyone can feel that surging stage rhythm pulsing through these frames.
