[Sakura Matou cosplay] Being Myself Under the Cherry Blossom Trees: Becoming a Hero of Justice Just for Sakura

This shoot was set in a cherry garden in late spring, catching the last bloom of white and pink cherry blossoms, which paired very softly with Sakura Matou's long purple hair. For the costume, I prepared a white short-sleeved lace top; the lace details at the collar and cuffs fit the character's gentle yet cool temperament. A wide black waist cinch was tied around the waist to highlight proportions, and a bouquet of light pink and white roses was chosen to echo the spring cherry blossoms. For makeup, I focused on pinkish-orange eyeshadow, paired with light-colored contact lenses and soft pink lip color, aiming to reproduce that slightly melancholic yet resolute look. It was very windy during the shoot, making the wig a bit messy, but it actually added a dynamic feel. I thought the moment in the third picture where I tucked my hair back felt the most natural, so I picked it as the cover.

This photoshoot took about a month of preparation—from wig trimming and outfit coordination to buying the bouquet, all done by myself. Because the character has a complex inner core, I wanted to present a pose of strength within calmness in front of the lens. The photographer was great at candid capture; under the cherry blossom trees, we tried different angles: the subtle look back over the shoulder, the hazy distance-gazing side profile, and the direct, open gaze into the camera.

Honestly, cosplaying such a classic Fate character comes with a lot of pressure because the original image is deeply ingrained in people's minds. But I feel that as long as you sincerely appreciate the resilience and gentleness inside the character, put on suitable props, and stand there, even without speaking, you can convey that unique atmosphere. This Cosplay photography session relied entirely on natural light throughout, with a wide aperture blurring the background branches and grass to make the subject pop. Post-processing only involved basic color adjustment to preserve the original spring transparency.

Although running around all day was exhausting, seeing the final photos made it all worthwhile. To me, cosplay is not just recreating appearance and outfit, but a journey into the character's heart. I hope these photos allow everyone to feel the tranquility and strength belonging to spring in 2D culture.
