When planning this Luo Tianyi cosplay shoot, the classic poetic line 'May I be like a star and you like the moon, night after night shining on each other with radiant light' kept echoing in my mind. Instead of the traditional stage outfit, I chose a look blending a Chinese mandarin collar with delicate tulle elements. For the outdoor photography location, I deliberately picked a wooden corridor covered in climbing vines beside a mottled ancient wall, aiming to create a cool, serene, and tranquil atmosphere.
In terms of hair and makeup, to faithfully recreate Luo Tianyi, I opted for a silver-gray wig styled into her signature high bun. The small golden crown accessory on top, along with the pink tassel hair ties on both sides, served as the crowning touches. For makeup, I accentuated the eye contours using an orange-brown eyeshadow base paired with amber colored contacts—achieving an exquisite anime look while complementing the elegant outfit. A gentle, low-saturation brick-red lip color was chosen to keep the overall appearance natural and soft.
The layering and fabric combination were the highlights of this cosplay. The top features a classic blue mandarin collar with white piping, while the black heart-shaped cut-out on the chest breaks the traditional rigidity and adds modern flair. The sleeves feature detachable sheer arm warmers, where the light blue and soft purple tulle shimmers beautifully under natural light. The bottom is a tiered white ruffled miniskirt with delicate metal pendants along the hem that drape gracefully when seated. Paired with cosplay white tights, it not only elongates the leg lines but also perfectly captures the character's youthful charm.
The shooting process was quite a test of posing. Because the outfit includes so much flowing tulle, showcasing that ethereal, celestial vibe required constant attention to the movement of my arms and hemlines. Holding the traditional round fan required balancing effortless poise with prop details like the painted fan surface and floral accents, ensuring they never obstructed facial features. Sitting on the wooden chair with a subtle twist of the torso allowed the skirt and sheer fabric to drape naturally. The ancient wall and vines in the background provided incredible atmosphere; the weathered wall formed a striking contrast with the silver-gray hair and airy garments, offering rich color depth without feeling cluttered.
Every time I cosplay Luo Tianyi, I feel a unique sense of relaxation. To me, this character is more than just a virtual singer—she is a companion. Even though I have cosplayed her many times, donning a brand-new outfit in a new setting never fails to spark creative inspiration. What satisfied me most about this look was the use of sheer tulle; despite worrying about getting it stained or wrinkled during the shoot, the light-transmitting effect in the final photos was stunning. I hope these photos successfully capture and freeze that fleeting moment of beauty.
