[Shimoe Koharu cosplay] Blue Archive Mid-Autumn Moon Gazing: The Moon Descends to the Mortal Realm

The concept for this Mid-Autumn outdoor shoot was planned more than a month in advance. As seen in the post description, I brought forth a Qipao cosplay look for Shimoe Koharu from Blue Archive. To resonate with the serene mood of Mid-Autumn moon-gazing, I incorporated several modifications into both the wardrobe and props. Koharu's original design has unmistakable signatures: soft pink hair, a matching pink halo floating above, and small black feathered wings. To harmonize with the festival, I customized the base into a black modified qipao-style bodysuit edged with soft pink trim, layered with plush white faux-fur sleeve cuffs. This preserved her canonical recognition while introducing a tender, gentle grace.

We were blessed with wonderful weather on shoot day, choosing a lush, foliage-draped corner inside a public park. Although the images appear to be bathed in deep night, we actually captured them using natural daylight paired with bounce reflectors while underexposing the background, creating the chilly, crystalline impression of cascading moonlight. While perched along the wooden park bench, I rested the black feathered wings prop beside me, lightly twirling a single black quill feather as an accent. Because I posed barefoot, traversing the gravel ground was a true balancing act. For the second shot looking back over my shoulder, flaunting the curvature of the back and leg lines meant shifting my center of gravity repeatedly; poising on tiptoes was physically demanding, yet the final frames captured a languid, coy charm that reflects Koharu's personality to perfection.

In terms of makeup, to complement the Mid-Autumn theme, I deepened the rosy pink eyeshadow blending and wore baby-pink colored contact lenses, striving for dewy, translucent skin under the moonlit aesthetic in tight close-ups. The wig was layered and styled beforehand so the soft curls along both temples framed the face naturally. Many friends often ask how to preserve wig volume during outdoor shoots: beyond heavy-duty hairspray, I use a curling iron to set the curvature of the tips before heading out and avoid humid areas on set. The prop halo and wings were also reinforced by hand with hidden snap fasteners to keep them from dislodging under outdoor breezes.

The entire shoot was quite rigorous—hiking over gravel in high heels before going barefoot on set and keeping core muscles engaged through prolonged takes was exhausting. Yet seeing the final deliverables bathed in that quiet serenity—as if the moon truly tumbled down to earth—made every ounce of effort worthwhile. Mid-Autumn is fundamentally a celebration of togetherness; bringing a beloved character to life in such a distinctive form and sharing this 2D creative joy is deeply fulfilling. This is easily one of my favorite recent outdoor sets, and I hope everyone can feel the tranquil stillness within these frames.
