When finalizing the makeup and styling, I made a last-minute adjustment to the position of the black bow. Paired with the long, straight wig, it looked much more aligned with the cool, aloof aura we wanted to convey for this Kasugano Sora cosplay. This Outdoor photography shoot took place in an ancient moss-covered grove for a serene Forest photoshoot. During the shoot, the photographer suggested utilizing tree trunks for diagonal compositions, which required better control over my center of gravity. In the first photo, I sat on a trunk with a gray plush bear beside me to create visual balance. The second photo adopted a pose with one leg dangling down, directing attention along the leg line, which, paired with the gesture of tucking my hair, made the frame livelier.
For makeup, to match Sora's temperament, the foundation was kept pale and fair with clean eye makeup, using slim eyeliner to shape the eyes so the makeup appeared softer in natural light. Wig styling took considerable effort—keeping the crown voluminous while letting long strands drape naturally down the sides. It was cloudy on the day of the shoot, providing diffused light without harsh direct sunlight, creating gentle shadows well-suited for this fresh white-dress aesthetic. Post-processing focused on color contrast, desaturating the background green leaves to make the character's white dress pop while preserving skin texture. Sitting steadily on the large trunk took some effort, given the rough bark and the fact that the white dress could easily snag. Poses were kept relaxed and languid, extending legs naturally to enhance the translucency of the image. The fabric was relatively light, so safety measures were prepared beforehand. The paired black Mary Jane shoes and White stockings were finishing touches that flattered leg proportions. The wide-aperture lens blurred the background into soft bokeh, adding depth and layering.
The entire shoot went very smoothly, centered around great communication with the photographer; beyond candid snaps, we also tested fixed poses. After changing into the costume, we framed angles by the designated tree. The mossy trunk had great texture but was a bit prickly to sit on. To match the dress's lightness, I relaxed my shoulders, tilted my body naturally, and rested my weight on the supporting hand, maintaining balance while looking relaxed on camera. Prop placement was balanced by placing the gray teddy bear nearby, covering overly slick branch areas while adding playfulness. Hairspray secured the crown and side strands, and the twin-tail height was fine-tuned to the back of my head.
For the second photo chosen as the cover, its compositional extension was superior. Following the branch's direction, I extended one leg straight down and bent the other, brushing my hair with my hand to form a natural diagonal line. This pose tested core strength to keep the upper body straight while appearing effortlessly relaxed. The photographer accurately captured perspective, slightly angling upward to elongate leg lines and make the canopy overhead appear grander. For post-color grading, we adjusted warmer skin tones to a fairer white, unifying with the white dress. Reviewing raw photos, the 30/70 color distribution between green leaves and the white dress looked fit for a magazine cover. Skin texture was preserved without excessive smoothing, simply balancing light and shadow.
