[Luo Tianyi Cosplay] Record of the Concerto of Flowing Light Physical Studio Shoot

Shooting Luo Tianyi's Concerto of Flowing Light in a physical studio this time was a very concrete creative experience. Compared to outdoor shooting, a physical studio shoot offers more controllable lighting conditions, but conversely demands higher texture quality from props and costumes. As a virtual diva, Luo Tianyi's Concerto of Flowing Light outfit utilizes a large number of musical symbol elements in its design, such as the striking blue treble clef decoration on the chest and a ring of golden hollow-out patterns on the skirt hem, resembling a flowing staff. The hair accessories and hat structure on the head are also very intricate, requiring the wig and accessories to fit perfectly together to present her original agility.

This golden staff is the most substantial prop in this look. Its top features a massive combination of musical notes and melodies, with long blue ribbons hanging down along the staff. During the shoot, I had to adjust my hand placement so that it wouldn't block important costume details while maintaining a stable center of gravity. Since the staff is quite long, the reflected gloss varies at different angles, requiring the photographer to keep continuous focus to ensure every frame has texture.

For the set design, the real-scene studio established depth using a dark blue backdrop and a large amount of semi-transparent white sheer fabric. The floor utilized a reflective mirror material, which casts the character's reflection, making the frame look as if it were on clouds or the water's surface. Hand-folded star decorations and star balloons were suspended from the ceiling, with white plaster statues and floral arrangements nestled in the corners, all striving to create a musical starry sky belonging to a diva. When shooting characters filled with fantasy elements, the atmospheric feel of the scene is highly crucial, and the studio setup achieved this perfectly.

On the day of the shoot, I spent a lot of time dressing up for the completeness of this look. Because the metal framework at the bottom of the skirt is quite rigid, it needed to be adjusted to the right position to prop up that bell-jar-like skirt shape. If the posture is incorrect, the skirt hem will lean to one side and deform. Therefore, we often found ourselves adjusting the puffiness of the skirt hem again after a pose was set. The white stockings on the legs also featured crossed straps and tiny star decorations. Paired with the blue bow high heels on my feet, it visually elongated the leg lines, which aligns better with the intrinsic refinement of this character.

In front of the lens, I wasn't just standing there wearing these clothes; I also had to convey the pure temperament of Luo Tianyi as a virtual diva. I feel that her image itself is constructed from music and melodies, and the Concerto of Flowing Light adds a starry, dreamy filter on top of that base. When holding the staff, I would imagine musical notes flowing out along with it. The lighting inside the studio leaned toward a cool color palette, which perfectly unified with the blue and white tones of our costume. This set of photos utilized relatively soft studio lighting with few shadows, making the skin look more transparent and well-preserving the gloss of the clothing material.

Actually, before going to the studio shoot, I kept thinking about how to showcase this outfit beautifully. Because the design of the Concerto of Flowing Light emphasizes a sense of lines, it's quite different from the typical magical girl style. To complement the overall silhouette of this costume, I tried my best to use the staff to balance the shift in center of gravity when posing. The metallic texture of the staff, along with the reflections of various gold trims on the clothes, can easily create dazzling highlights under studio lights. This required the photographer to exercise precise control over exposure to retain the metallic luster of the highlights without losing the texture details of the dark clothing sections. Although the entire process was somewhat tiring and took a long time from styling to actual shooting, seeing this cool and ethereal dreamy style cosplay finally presented in the camera made me feel that all the previous preparations were worthwhile in this experience of Anime-style photography.
