To shoot this finished set of Evanescia from Honkai: Star Rail, the pre-production preparations required substantial effort. The garment itself is packed with fine nuances: the cuffs of the white shirt bear translucent pink motifs, and to capture that airy, layered drape, we experimented with several distinct fabrics. For the coordinated dark gray pleated skirt, we repeatedly fine-tuned the belt and necktie details to achieve a more tailored fit. The pink gradient of the wig and the rabbit-ear headdress atop my head also required careful styling and setting to ensure they wouldn't collapse on camera and would maintain natural texture under varying light conditions.

Crafting the handheld props and peripherals was equally time-consuming. The long staff adorned with a pink ribbon bow and the purple teddy bear underwent multiple revisions in material selection and paint coating to capture that delicate 2D aesthetic seen in official character illustrations. Even the detailed props scattered across the floor—such as Polaroid photos, books, and tin badges—were prepared well in advance to mirror the vibe of the original art as closely as possible.

On the day of the shoot, the studio set at Miyou Miaomiaowu was arranged with immense care. We constructed a scene enveloped in pink drapes, complemented by scattered elements like tape measures, Polaroid prints, books, and tin badges to evoke the cozy yet poignant atmosphere of a scrapbook collage. To amplify visual impact, the gaffer used pink wash lights to build atmosphere, allowing the background draperies to glow with a dreamy pink-violet hue. Because the angle of illumination cast directly over the folds of the fabric, we had to continuously adjust facial highlights to avoid overexposure or heavy shadows—a rigorous test of lighting control.

For posing guidance, the goal was to keep body language relaxed. Sitting on the drapes with legs crossed, the texture of the black stockings caught a subtle sheen under the lights, echoing the black ankle boots. The props were not rigidly aligned, pursuing instead an effortlessly scattered casualness. Occasionally picking up a drink or casting a downward gaze toward the lens helped seize the character's vivid presence within that specific setting. To highlight the lines of the legs and the extended perspective of the overall composition, we spent considerable time refining the subtleties of the seated poses.

Post-production this time was handled by Yutian (Yutian, the water-magic retoucher). A major challenge in compositing was the massive, glowing pink phantom figure in the background. It required meticulous masking and edge lighting refinement so the phantom would retain a translucent, ethereal texture without stealing focus from the subject. The color palette of the image was uniformly graded into a high-saturation pink-violet scheme to heighten ambiance, ensuring highlights and shadows on scattered items blended harmoniously into the setting. From image selection to finalizing color grading and layout compositing, every step involved continuous calibration.

In fact, just as the caption says: precisely because we know the ending, every frame along the way becomes so precious and unique, doesn't it? Falling blossoms in an instant, bonds tied for eternity. Gathering a team to recreate a character—from wardrobe and props to hair, makeup, photography, and retouching—is a deeply meaningful journey in itself. We don't strive for absolute perfection, only to genuinely capture the light and shadow of this fleeting moment. I hope this photo set lets everyone feel the sincerity poured into these details. Whether it is the stitching on the garment or the placement of each prop, it all serves to build a cohesive visual realm.
