[Saber Alter cosplay] Seaside Glimpse of Summer Saber Alter: The Serendipity of Waves and Clouds

Let's talk about the Summer Saber Alter swimsuit I wore—it boasts high accuracy. The black halter-neck mini dress, cutout styling on the chest, and black lace leg garters on the arms and legs visually create a very cold and alluring look. However, this fabric is genuinely difficult to manage by the Seaside: sea breezes and saltwater soak it, causing the material to easily stick to the skin. I had to constantly smooth it out between takes to prevent wrinkles from ruining the overall premium texture.

We were fortunate on the day of the shoot with a blue sky and thick cumulus clouds perfect for photography. Aiming to recreate the atmosphere of the original art, we specifically chose a location with massive rounded boulders, creating a natural compositional tension that nicely set off the character's aloof demeanor.

The main challenge during shooting came from the waves—crashing in and soaking me completely while requiring me to maintain a stable posture. To capture the right cloud placement and action, we shot multiple takes. I stood where the water was shallow but waves could wash over my ankles; this enveloped my feet in mist and sea spray, visually accentuating leg length and evoking the poetic visual of the character emerging gracefully from water. The wig was set with hairspray, but the relentless sea breeze constantly threatened to mess it up, requiring touch-ups with spray at any moment.

When controlling facial expressions, the gaze needed to remain focused and sharp rather than soft, conveying a proud aloofness. In the original art, she holds a massive broadsword and handgun; although we didn't carry physical props into the sea for safety reasons, conveying the character's sense of power through backward-glancing body language and sharp gazes was the core focus of this attempt. The photographer tested several camera positions and adjusted the reflector's angle, catching the ambient light from the distant background. While the background was bright, my face remained perfectly exposed without blowout, allowing us to directly capture the crystal-clear translucency of the seawater with minimal post-processing color work.

As a classic character in Fate/Grand Order, this form uniquely blends combat prowess with casual leisure. I usually shoot in studios, so managing lighting on-location by the Seaside was quite challenging, yet it allowed for capturing candid, naturally unfolding movements. The surging waves and splashing water subtly echoed the airy lightness of the original art. This serendipity made the photoshoot deeply enjoyable.

When packing up to head back, my body was covered in sand, and the salt in the seawater had stiffened the fabric of the leg garters. Yet these natural marks serve as an extra memento of this shoot. That is the story behind this set of behind-the-scenes moments.
