This time I tried the Chalcedony Ice Heart look of Yin Ziping in NARAKA: BLADEPOINT. From the styling to the scene setting, it leans toward a cool, serene, and dreamlike style, so the overall color scheme utilizes a large amount of pure white and light gray, paired with some deep wood colors in the scene and a few pink and black accents.

The venue arrangement for the shoot has a strong Chinese courtyard atmosphere, mainly featuring a dark wood platform and railings, decorated with slender bamboo on both sides. During the shoot, a huge backlit full moon prop was specially placed in the studio, cooperating with the ground mist created by dry ice to genuinely build that sense of mystery of a bamboo forest under the moon. Personally, I really like this kind of backdrop with a backlighting effect, as the light source hitting the edges of the white hair creates a beautiful halo, making the whole person's silhouette look exceptionally translucent.

The design of this costume belongs to a modified Qipao. The upper body retains the traditional standing collar and frog button details, but the shoulder and skirt hem feature a patchwork of ruffles and lace fabrics. The white jacquard texture on the clothing surface has different reflective qualities under the lights. For the makeup, I chose a relatively light, cool tone, primarily using blue-purple colored contacts to brighten my gaze, paired with pink-orange eyeshadow to give the entire makeup more vitality. The silver-white wig is a straightened long hair styling, made into slightly voluminous twin-tails, and the white flowers and black streamer hair accessories on top add to the overall 2D lightness.

The prop paired during the shoot is a black and white gradient long blade, with the scabbard featuring a pink heart cutout pattern, and a section of pink streamer hanging from the hilt. This blade acts as a visual highlight in terms of color against my all-white attire. This shoot tried several different movement designs, including statically standing while holding the blade with both hands, a dynamic single-leg raise to store power, kneeling on a wooden daybed looking straight into the lens for a close-up composition, and a lazy sitting posture resting my head with one hand on a long daybed. Each posture required discussion with the photographer on how to coordinate with the moonlight behind and the water mist in the foreground to maintain a balance between the character's bodily curves and the prop's state.

Especially when shooting in kneeling and sitting positions, to mind the elongation feel of the white silk stockings on the legs, the seam positions of the skirt hem and stockings were adjusted many times. The cut of this apparel is quite form-fitting itself, and combined with the over-the-knee white stockings and high heels, showcasing the character's body advantages is a major focus of this look. The photographer's lighting was very clever; the main light source clearly illuminated the front, while the backlit moon provided great silhouette separation, allowing the texture of the white stockings and clothing details to be presented very cleanly.

In actual operation, because the long twin-tails and hair accessories easily swing when moving around, plus the need to hold a long blade for various swings and frozen poses, the shooting process was actually a bit more tiring than imagined. However, the final photos turned out quite well. Set off by props like the bamboo forest, ancient-style lanterns, and stone lions, the temperament of Chalcedony Ice Heart—which is a bit cool and serene yet lively due to playful actions—was basically restored into place. Although this set of works is dominated by a white color scheme and looks simple, it actually has high requirements for lighting, as it easily looks flat or lets the character merge into the background. This time, through the combination of the backlit full moon, top, and front light sources, the lighting problem was well resolved, allowing the character subject to stand out prominently from the dark wood background. Above are some subjective feelings and insights from the shooting process of this photo set.
