This set of forest elf girl photos is finally retouched. From makeup and hair styling to location scouting and formal shooting, it took nearly half a month of preparation. To present the purest natural elf feel, I tried many details inspired by natural plants in the costumes, makeup, and props. I specially picked this apple green color for the wig, which is quite bright yet slightly matte, so it highlights layers under the backlit forest environment without reflecting light to look too fake. The white delicate flowers on the floral crown were glued on one by one by hand, coordinating with the green leaves and fluffy moss decorations around the neck, instantly granting that forest elf temperament.

For the clothes, I designed a patchwork style made of multiple leaves, paired with a lightweight light green tulle skirt. This semi-transparent material is quite a test for the lighting conditions during shooting, because if the light dims even slightly, the tulle skirt will become a dull green and lose its ethereal feel. So during the actual shoot, I was looking for the intersection of light spots and tree shadows with the photographer almost the entire time. Photo 1 is my favorite, and I personally feel it's the most suitable to serve as the main cover photo. Sitting on a thick log, with bare feet drooping naturally, the light hit right on the side of my face and the tulle skirt, showcasing the delicacy of the skin while preserving the translucent texture of the tulle dress, and the echo of the light on the legs also makes them look exceptionally slender.

Regarding the composition of this set, my core concept is "harmony between person and scenery." Do not intentionally force a pose, but rather generate a physical interaction with the surrounding trees and fallen leaves. Like when leaning against a branch, I gently placed my hand on the rough bark, feeling that prickly granular sensation, so the frame shot wouldn't look rigid. To give the image more of an Anime-style photography CG feel, we adopted low-angle high-angle shots many times. This not only elongates the character's proportions but also turns the light spots into dreamy blurred bokeh circles through the gaps in the leaves. Under the low-angle perspective, the extension of the leg lines feels even stronger.

During the shooting process, there were actually quite a few unexpected minor episodes. For instance, to pursue a pure Forest elf cosplay feel, I insisted on shooting barefoot the entire time. Although the fallen leaves on the ground looked very soft, in reality, the rough grains of the bark and the small pebbles on the ground were very sharp on my feet, and I almost fell several times from walking too fast. Later, we did spot shooting in places where the bark was relatively flat, and fortunately, the sunshine was great that day, making the entire forest floor feel warm and cozy. Although the soles of my feet suffered, visually it could present that free and primitive state. This small sacrifice to exchange for the translucency of the image is completely worth it as a cosplayer.

In terms of post-processing retouching, I didn't execute large-scale color modification but instead retained that natural, slightly warm tone from the original image, blurring out those overly messy weeds at the edge of the frame and concentrating the focus on the mottled highlights of the tree leaves. Through fine-tuning the contrast and color saturation, the entire green atmosphere presents a lush and green feel, while ensuring that the skin tone of the character's face didn't become dull due to reflections from the green environment, maintaining a clean, bright white overall. The entire retouching idea highlights an Aesthetic style.

Finally, I want to say a few words regarding the shooting techniques that everyone cares about most. If you want to shoot this kind of protagonist feel and aesthetic sense, the most important point is to make good use of the natural light sources in the woods and try not to turn on high-power flash lights, because flash lights will destroy the original forest atmosphere and shoot the wig and tulle skirt with a rigid reflection. Everything used natural light combined with a reflector for fill-lighting, which is also the reason why this set of photos looks relatively natural and comfortable. In the future, if there's an opportunity to shoot similar themes, I might try adding some dynamic snapshots or incorporating some macro elements of small animals to give the entire frame a greater sense of story.
