The Cosplay convention photos from the IJOY Anime & Game Festival are finally organized! The shooting environment that day was a huge indoor exhibition hall with high ceilings and visible metal truss structures overhead, making it particularly suitable for Anime-style photography with a cool, atmospheric contrast against an industrial backdrop. This heavy black iron chain prop looks simple, but it actually carries quite a bit of weight in hand. To get the natural hanging pose shown in the pictures without straining my hands, I repeatedly adjusted my hand position several times to find just the right balance to keep the chain taut without making my arm look rigid—it was actually a test of core control!
Let's talk about the outfit first. My favorite part of this costume is the blue streamers on the shoulders; the fabric has a pearlescent and semi-translucent texture that creates a dreamy halo under studio lights. For hair, I went with long, straight silver hair with blunt bangs for this Silver hair cosplay. Since cool-toned wigs can easily make one's face look washed out, I specifically emphasized eyeliner and red lips in my makeup to make facial features pop. Combined with the gold hair accessories and teardrop-shaped blue-and-gold earrings on the side, the overall palette gained a vibrant, striking highlight beyond just black and white.
The top features a black base with gold-trimmed cutout designs, and the midriff-baring cut visually elongates body proportions. The lower miniskirt shares the same color scheme, accented with gold patterns resembling dragon or flame motifs. Spliced behind the waist is a dark blue drape along with a highly unique semi-transparent white rigid ornament that resembles fish fins or wing elements. I was initially worried that these layered hems might look bulky, but during the actual shoot, they created very fluid lines in motion and specific sitting poses.
This shoot gave me my first try at posing on a high stool, where crossing my legs nicely extended leg lines. On my feet were clear chunky-heeled platform sandals; the advantage of these shoes is quietly adding height while the completely clear material avoids disrupting the lower-body outfit's cohesion, allowing visual focus to stay on the legs and costume. The low-angle upward shot was fantastic as well, brilliantly bringing out a commanding, slightly aloof demeanor.
Although the exhibition hall was spacious that day, the photography area was still fairly crowded, equipped with reflector umbrellas and softboxes. Composition combining wide angles and industrial backgrounds places high demands on lighting—the light needs to outline facial contours cleanly without casting messy shadows from the background trusses. Fortunately, communication with the photographer was super smooth, and we cooperated quickly on set. Whether staring intently while holding up the chain or turning slightly toward the camera, we snapped the best states effortlessly.
Given current temperatures, wearing a crop top like this was actually a bit chilly, but it was something to overcome to present the best visual effect. After finishing this set of posed photos, I walked around the convention hall in this outfit for a bit and met many friends who liked the look and asked for photos. Being able to present a textured outfit with my own interpretation at the convention was truly a fulfilling experience. These Convention photos overall are quite clean and understated, without excessive filter effects, preserving the venue's natural texture and the costume's authentic colors. I really love this clean, cool-toned vibe.
