[Yae Miko cosplay] If Miko Were in Liyue: Finally Sharing This Long-Shelved Set

This set has genuinely been sitting in my archives for ages—so long that I only decided to publish it after stepping away from Genshin Impact. Originally, I had planned to shoot a second full photobook for Miko, but because I lacked enough alternate wardrobe variations on hand, that project was ultimately shelved, leaving these raw files dormant on my hard drive. Yet regardless of moving on from the game, my deep affection for Yae Miko has never waned.

The conceptual premise here was 'What if Miko were in Liyue?' To merge Inazuma's cunning kitsune with the cultural atmosphere of Liyue, I introduced significant calibrations to both wardrobe and set design. The garment retained Yae Miko's classic black-and-pink palette, utilizing a halter-neck cut spliced with sheer black mesh, while the bust was adorned with golden metal ornaments and violet gemstone motifs. Over this, I layered wide statement sleeves patterned in pink and white damask, trimmed at the cuffs with plush black faux fur. The bottom featured tailored black shorts accentuated by a delicate golden chain encircling the thigh. At the crown rested a golden bough-shaped headpiece, complemented by violet gemstone earrings encased in gilded filigree with trailing silk tassels.

Since the concept transported her to Liyue, the set dressing pivoted entirely into traditional Chinese aesthetics. The backdrop featured open-carved lattice windows, wooden folding screens, a low daybed, and a scholar's desk. The desk was arranged with ink brushes, an inkstone, parchment scrolls, and thread-bound volumes, evoking the scholarly heritage of Liyue Harbor. Semi-translucent white calligraphy-inscribed sheer drapery was suspended around the set, with fallen crimson and amber maple leaves scattered liberally to simulate an autumnal mood. For lighting, several rectangular paper lanterns served as primary ambient fixtures, casting a warm golden wash that—when paired with rim kickers and side fill—softened bodily contours while carving rich dimensional separation through the maple leaves and gauze curtains.

Posing on set was unexpectedly demanding. The sleeves were voluminous and the fur trim held tangible weight, requiring careful management of arm angles to keep the silhouette from appearing bulky. To channel Miko's signature languid poise laced with playful seduction, I explored multiple seated postures: leaning against the study desk, kneeling seiza-style atop the desk, and crossing my legs over a low wooden bench. Twirling the calligraphy brush while letting my gaze drift casually off-lens or tilting my chin slightly upward perfectly locked in that effortless, knowing composure. Furthermore, pairing sharp black stiletto heels with this traditional setting introduced a striking visual edge.

Even though these captures spent a long time locked away in storage, revisiting them now confirms that the makeup execution, costume tailoring, and ambient lighting hold up exceptionally well. Transcending the passage of time and my departure from the game, I still wanted to share this radiant documentation of Yae Miko with everyone.
