Today's set of photos was taken in a historical classical garden. The outfit I'm wearing is Maomao's iconic traditional-style attire. The light green cross-collar top features dark blue-black piping at the neckline, and the fluorescent yellow-green patchwork at the cuffs is very eye-catching. The lower body is paired with a wide-hem burgundy long skirt, which feels substantial when moving, and the material glows slightly under natural light. For accurate reproduction, the wig was chosen in a dark ink green color, featuring blunt bangs and two braids, with a blue bow for the hair accessory, and red and green small beads specifically tied onto the braids as decoration. In terms of makeup, the focus was placed on the eye makeup; to make the eyes look more expressive, the eyeliner was elongated, and a reddish-brown eyeshadow was used to add depth, matched with grayish-green colored contact lenses to recreate the character's traits as much as possible.
I personally really like the composition of the first photo looking through the window. The mottled white wall and the dark wood-carved window frame naturally form a natural picture frame. The photographer had me stand inside, leaning out halfway with my gaze looking slightly outward. Because the indoor-outdoor light contrast was quite large, the photographer specially adjusted the exposure and used a reflector to fill in light on the face, achieving that translucent effect. The natural light here is very soft, hitting the body just right, showcasing the texture of the clothes and the details of the makeup, while the dark indoor background makes the subject look very three-dimensional.
The photo sitting on the stone steps supporting my chin was meant to showcase a sense of tranquility. In the background of the ancient architecture, you can still see the signboard of "Qianqiu", which fits the character's atmosphere very well. In terms of posture, I chose to support my chin with one hand, while letting the other hand rest naturally on my lap, with my gaze lowered slightly. This sitting posture looks simple, but actually requires adjusting the strength of the back and waist to appear light in posture, avoiding looking clumsy due to wearing a heavy skirt.
The next two photos utilize the guiding lines of the railings and stone steps for composition. For the one leaning against the dark meander-patterned wooden railing, the body's center of gravity needs to lean back slightly, hands should rest naturally on the wooden railing, and the gaze should look straight into the lens with a bit of a cool, detached feeling. When standing by the stone steps holding the railing, attention must be paid to the placement of the skirt hem so that it presents a natural drape in the frame.
The entire garden shooting actually tested environmental observation quite a bit. The colors of the ancient architecture lean towards black, white, and gray, making this green-and-red colored outfit stand out very vividly within it. During the shoot, I tried my best to make my movements match the lines of the scene, such as the verticality of the window frame and the geometric feel of the railings. The wig's bangs can actually easily block the line of sight, so they needed to be frequently pushed aside and adjusted during photo breaks to ensure the expression of the eyes. To fit the character, I tried to keep my expression calm with a hint of detachment and curiosity, avoiding too many large, exaggerated movements. For this garden location shoot, the light-and-shadow and the texture of the architecture provided a huge boost, making the entire set of photos look like they have both two-dimensional characteristics and are integrated into the heavy weight of the real environment.
