This photoshoot features Medicine Melancholy cosplay from Touhou Project, bringing along my Little Poison figure to join the shoot. The core focus of the overall styling was faithfully capturing the character's cool, aloof elegance as an Anime girl.
For the hair, I used a blonde wig with blunt straight bangs, spending considerable time beforehand trimming layers because thick wig strands easily look heavy on camera, requiring thinning to achieve natural curves. For the eyes, I chose translucent blue contact lenses; after testing several shades, this pair best matched the character's serene, aloof demeanor. The eye makeup was kept subtle, mainly defining eye contours by extending the outer corners and enhancing eyelash density.
The most challenging element was the oversized Red bow on my head. Its stiff, structured fabric made it prone to sliding off, so I crossed multiple bobby pins and an invisible hairnet at the back to secure it firmly throughout the long shoot. The bangs across my forehead also had to coordinate with the angle of the large Red bow to ensure my line of sight remained clear.
The costume paired a white lace collar with a black main dress. The white lace has a delicate weave, while the ruby brooch at the neckline and the draped golden chains are major highlights, reflecting a gorgeous sheen under hard direct light. The subtle jacquard texture of the black dress supported the overall silhouette handsomely, making my arm lines look more slender.
During shooting, holding the Little Poison figure required careful angle coordination to balance the composition while showcasing the figure naturally. I tried lifting my hand near my chest, letting the figure's red dress echo my own Red bow in a harmonious color play. Throughout the session, lighting focused primarily on my face and the figure with slightly dimmed surroundings to make the subjects pop. The shadows cast by the white lace patterns under the light added vintage depth and layered richness to the frame.
Aligning with the Poison Fairy lore, rather than choosing energetic or animated poses, I maintained a restrained, calm, and subtly distant demeanor. Although the voluminous Red bow and intricate figure posed slight challenges for posing, the final visual effect turned out wonderful. This was a genuinely immersive Roleplay experience that deepened my understanding of this classic Touhou Project character.
