I finally arranged the long-awaited Rem Angel outfit for this convention. I've always wanted to try a look with wings and a halo. The white tulle dress combined with feather elements feels visually much lighter than her usual maid uniform from Re:Zero − Starting Life in Another World. However, wearing it while balancing the fixation of the wings and the puffiness of the skirt took a lot of thought. The floating halo on my head was made with thin wire and an acrylic ring; to maintain that hovering look, I specially hid a support piece inside the wig so it wouldn't easily tilt while walking or jumping. The wings have a shaped skeletal framework inside, with layered, hand-cut feathers glued to the outer layer. The curvature of each feather was adjusted because I wanted to capture a naturally unfolding effect rather than a stiff, board-like look.

The lighting at the venue today was quite complex, with many circular spotlights overhead, so I specially chose this area with a flat floor and a sense of depth in the background to shoot. For the first shot where I jumped, I tightened my core and kept my body in a slightly curled posture so that the captured instant would present a sense of suspension, making the movement lines of the skirt and wings much smoother. The next two photos are posed shots after landing, with my bare feet stepping directly on the exhibition hall floor. Although it was a bit cold, I insisted on staying shoeless to stay true to the angel's barefoot look. The core of this Anime cosplay lies in the combination of the white atmosphere and Rem's iconic blue hair, so the wig was trimmed quite neatly without complex styling. Paired with that strand of white highlights, the recognition instantly popped out.

Every time I cosplay a character with extra accessories, the biggest challenge is maintaining everything during dynamic movements—such as making sure the wings don't fold over when jumping and the skirt doesn't fly around wildly to cause accidental exposure. These were all practiced multiple times beforehand. The overall pace of this photo set was very fast, and the chemistry with the photographer for capturing candid moments was fantastic, leaving basically no wasted frames. Actually, Rem's original skin tone is quite pale, so for this makeup base, I specially chose a pink-white tone, which, paired with a cooler lip color, matches the purity of an angel much better. Looking back at these three convention photos, that feeling of landing lightly from mid-air, as well as the subtle head-tilt in the final casual standing photo, align quite well with my own understanding of Rem's personality—usually seemingly aloof, but incredibly agile and vivid when she gets serious. Meeting many like-minded friends during the convention and exchanging ideas about props and costumes is always an extra joy of doing a cosplay project. This white feather dress and the wings reveal a slight matte texture under the lights, rendering much softer than expected, which is definitely a plus for this character look.
