[Cirno cosplay] Touhou Project Ice Fairy Convention Photos Log

This Gensokyo Ice Fairy outfit definitely turned a lot of heads at the convention. Overall, it recreated the basic blue-and-white color scheme from the original illustration, but during the physical realization process, the team and photographer added many refined details. The main dress is an intricately detailed light blue and white Lolita outfit, with red criss-cross lace-up straps and bows on the chest and waist serving as wonderful accents amidst the blue and white palette, giving the character a more grounded visual focus. The intricate ruffles and lace on the hem greatly enriched the flat depth; standing under the venue lights, the interplay of light and shadow on the skirt hem was exceptionally textured.

To fit the theme of 'wisdom,' we specially prepared four large iridescent prism props on the back. Under the overhead lights of the venue, these props refracted brilliant colorful light spots, adding a dazzling anime feel to the entire look. Coupled with the giant light blue bow on the head and the white yarn ball decorations on the tips, the overall design preserved the exaggerated yet cute design language of the original illustration while becoming more practical and visually appealing through 3D realization. The wig bangs were also specially trimmed into wispy strands, paired with blue-purple contact lenses, keeping the character's distinct features while making the gaze look sharper and more vivid.

For this photoshoot, I chose the classic hands-on-hips standing pose, which is an extremely recognizable posture from the illustrations. Under the photographer's guidance, we found a relatively open indoor spot inside the hall without interference from outdoor natural light, relying entirely on the venue's industrial lighting. The photographer 'Jiuzhe' captured these shots in the noisy convention environment, skillfully avoiding cluttered luggage and passersby in the background, using a wide aperture to blur the complex metal trusses behind and highlight the main subject. Although the lighting on site was complex, thanks to the light reflected from the back prisms, the lighting on my face appeared very balanced. Wearing a pair of black platform Mary Jane shoes paired with white lace short socks, this combination ensured comfort for walking around while perfectly echoing the gorgeous aesthetic of the Lolita outfit.

Honestly, moving through the convention in such a bulky outfit was quite a workout. The huge bow and the four rigid prism props on my back meant I had to walk sideways through narrow passages. However, because the cosplay atmosphere at the venue was so warm, fellow fans passing by often recognized me and called out the character's name, and that sense of interaction completely washed away my physical tiredness. When I saw the final photos on the camera screen, especially the vibrant light rays refracting off those prism props, I truly felt that all the early effort put into tailoring the outfit and assembling the props was well worth it. The makeup on the day was also clean, avoiding overly heavy colors while retaining the contoured definition of the eyes, overall delivering a fresh look tinged with the character's signature confidence. These moments of purely recording the character's beauty and joyful atmosphere are exactly why I put so much dedication into prepping every cosplay as an ACG Cosplayer.
