Sharing this finished shoot of Platinum from Arknights. Aiming for a hardcore post-processing workflow, I opted to shoot in a pure white studio and merge licensed assets using Traditional compositing. Bypassing AI entirely, the entire pipeline relied on manual cutouts, layering, and lighting calibration, resulting in substantial creative effort. From styling prep, Platinum strictly tests wardrobe accuracy; accessories, tall boots over black Stockings, and that intricately sculpted recurve bow were major focal points. The combination of black hosiery and tall boots was emphasized on camera using wide-angle lenses and low camera angles to elongate leg contours, while capturing authentic muscle tension during mid-air leaps to reflect her operator prowess.
Posing drew inspiration from a chess match, featuring an oversized monochrome board and a toppled black chess piece in the background. To match that grand atmosphere, I adopted an airborne bow-drawing posture, requiring precise parabolic jumps within the compact studio space while holding steady facial composure—taking a dozen attempts to nail the landing. Under an upward angle, the overhead spotlight cast hard directional light with high contrast, laying an ideal textural foundation for manual extraction.
The compositing phase was the most painstaking. In a white studio, extracting white garments, hair, and Animal ears poses high difficulty, requiring hand-painted edge refinement. Perspective alignment followed: grounding the chess grid lines with the subject's physical scale, leap height, and arrow trajectory. Layering assets went far beyond pasting graphics; it meant mapping light direction so ground pieces and ambient smoke particles accurately absorbed the overhead spotlight. The bow's silhouette was sharpened, and hosiery highlights were individually sculpted to trace thigh contours smoothly.
Background assets were licensed high-resolution elements carrying natural ground shadows to prevent artificial flat looks, while mist particles received motion blur matching the spotlight angle. Sustaining leg tension through endless leap takes left my thighs aching, but seeing that crisp hosiery line and forward stride made every drop of sweat worthwhile. With no preset shortcuts, every mask and local curve was adjusted by hand; carving out individual hair strands on a monitor yields an unmatched sense of craft. This technical, manual compositing pipeline delivers tactile spatial depth and physical realism that AI generators cannot replicate. Building the scene with disciplined logic proved immensely satisfying and laid a streamlined blueprint for future complex character shoots.
