[Lin Yuxia Cosplay] Moonlight Atmosphere Chinese-Style Photography Record of Arknights Lie Yaotai Skin

From the initial test makeup, a tremendous amount of effort went into this Lin Yuxia cosplay shoot for her "Lie Yaotai" skin from Arknights. We didn't just want to dress up and take pictures; we hoped to recreate the character's elegant yet nimble, proud aura through the visuals. The long pinkish-purple hair and iconic plush beast ears are key features of the character. During makeup and hair setup, we paid special attention to the direction of the wig strands, ensuring the two buns were both rounded and fitted nicely to the face shape. Paired with the ears, the character's soul instantly came alive.

For the costume, we chose a cross-collar design featuring a white, blue, and purple color scheme. The outer layer is a white cross-collar robe, paired with a black high-neck base layer underneath, creating distinct contrast and layers. The dark blue long skirt on the lower half is printed with light-colored floral patterns, offering a very solid texture. Complemented by a thin purple shawl ribbon and tassel accents, it creates a gorgeous flowy effect when walking or standing—especially as the skirt hem trails across the bamboo mat, adding a sense of narrative to the frame.

In setting up the scene, we simulated a courtyard Moonlight atmosphere. The first setup was an indoor seated pose: I held a round fan hand-painted with blue flowers and butterfly shadows, while the wooden table in front of me displayed a celadon teapot, white lotus, and open ancient books. The huge cool-white full moon behind served as the visual core of the entire photograph, which, combined with subtle surrounding fog effects, set off a tranquil, serene Chinese-style photography environment. I adjusted the angle of the round fan, letting my gaze follow the fan's surface looking forward, striving to convey the character's restrained emotions.

The second setup was a standing pose, holding a long green pipe prop with dangling tassels that created a nice contrast against the white outfit. This posture required tightening the core and keeping the spine straight to showcase the character's silhouette and ethereal grace alongside the fluttering shawl ribbon. The photographer exercised high professionalism in light and shadow control, using a strong backlight to define the character's rim lighting while ensuring natural, soft shadow transitions on the face.

In recreating the character, we also infused some of our own understanding of her charm. The "Lie Yaotai" skin itself is rich in poetic elegance; hence, when creating this Ancient style cosplay work, we didn't blindly copy the original in-game artwork compositions. Instead, we incorporated traditional Chinese architectural elements—such as wooden lattice screens, bamboo blinds, white gauze, and white plum blossoms—allowing Lin Yuxia to step out of the 2D world into an authentic ancient courtyard, presenting a more tangible and grounded visual presentation.

Shooting day was quite physical; the skirt was long and heavy, requiring extreme caution when pacing back and forth in the tight set space to avoid stepping on the hem. To capture the best dynamic feel, many motions had to be held repeatedly—such as the wrist angle holding the fan, finger placement on props, and the focal point of my gaze—which we tested multiple times alongside the photographer and assistants.

In post-processing, I insisted on maintaining a unified cool color palette so that the serene, cool moonlight atmosphere remained undisturbed. Meanwhile, wig and fabric textures were slightly sharpened to keep the image looking clean, premium, and refined. This shoot was not only a character recreation but also great practice for my expressive range. Overall, I am very satisfied with both the process and the final output of this shoot, and I feel fortunate to have worked with such a professional crew to bring Lin Yuxia's "Lie Yaotai" skin from Arknights to life in a truly three-dimensional way.
