[Asuka Cosplay] Neon Genesis Evangelion Red Gothic Style Convention Photo Share

For this set of Asuka convention photos at the Changsha Anime Convention, I first picked this sitting posture photo as the feature. The venue was very crowded during the shoot; the photographer found a slightly darker ground area, laid down a white plush cloth for me to sit on, and the shot turned out quite well after blurring the background. The glossy red dress is made of a relatively stiff material that holds its shape, but it tightens around the waist after sitting for a long time, so I had to maintain tension while taking photos. The black lace choker paired with the red rose on the headpiece creates a strong overall visual impact. The eyepatch needed careful adjustment; otherwise, it easily caused a headache from the tightness. The wig was spliced with real hair and had a great drape, though it was quite heavy, leaving my neck and shoulders sore after a whole day. The black stockings on the legs are semi-sheer, showing off the lines while sitting. The pose holding the violin in the third photo was thought up on the spot; the violin is a prop and not very heavy, but my arms started shaking a bit after holding it up for long. Meeting a photographer on-site who could capture such a relatively complete full-body composition felt like accomplishing a small goal. My birthday is not until December, so posting this set of photos is a kind of commemoration. Cosplaying characters at anime conventions always allows you to meet fellow fans, making conversations very relaxing, and when not in a rush, we shot several more angles. In terms of costume details this time, the two diamond-shaped cutouts on the chest helped a lot with the slim fit, and along with the black elements of the gloves and eyepatch, the overall vibe felt right on point. Because the lighting on-site was a bit complex, some extra effort went into balancing the contrast between the cool-toned background and the red subject during post-processing. The props, wig, and makeup were basically all prepared by myself, which is part of the fun of cosplaying. The costume designs of the new century always feature sharp and intricate decorations, making them quite tedious to put on and take off, but putting them on brings a real sense of satisfaction. As for that free-flying bird, I truly experienced that feeling of unconstrained freedom at the convention this time. I hope the photos preserve that relaxed atmosphere from that moment.
