[Fate/kaleid liner Prisma Illya cosplay] Fate/Grand Order Summer Poolside Cool Magic

I've finally wrapped up this Swimsuit cosplay project for Fate/kaleid liner Prisma Illya! The entire shoot went smoothly, and I'd love to share both the pre-shoot preparations and on-site details with everyone.

The set was an indoor studio styled with a summer beach theme—featuring a blue mosaic pool, a shallow wading section filled with colorful ball-pit balls, artificial palm trees, and white picket fences. While it looked like a tropical getaway, the indoor lighting required meticulous care. To emulate vibrant summer sunlight, the key light with a softbox was set up to mimic high-noon sun, complemented by reflectors filling in facial shadows to produce that clear, luminous Japanese anime aesthetic.

Great care was put into the costume. The pink halter crop top carries a subtle pearlescent sheen, finished with a white lapel and a bright orange neckerchief to faithfully recreate her energetic charm. For the bottoms, I wore a white ruffled skirt matched with translucent light-gray stockings and leg warmers, producing a unique visual effect when dipped in the water. The wig featured golden-yellow twintails, and the wing hair clips on both sides took quite some time to angle by hand to ensure they stayed secure while looking weightless on camera.

For the shoot, we used a Fuji X-S10 body paired with a 27mm f/1.2 lens. The advantages of this setup for indoor studio photography were striking: the massive aperture provided abundant light intake, allowing me to maintain a low ISO for exceptionally clean image quality. The 27mm focal length (equivalent to around 40mm) produced very natural perspective without warping body proportions during medium and full-body shots. Wide open at f/1.2, the bokeh was delightfully creamy, melting the vibrant background balls and tropical plants into soft color patches so the subject truly popped.

In terms of poses, the photographer Niuniu offered plenty of great guidance. Actions like sitting by the pool edge holding a clear swim ring in front or lounging on a white sunbed raising an orange soda bottle not only highlighted costume accents, but also gave the body line a relaxed, graceful stretch. Because of the stockings cosplay, submerging my feet underwater altered the fabric texture—the sheer material pressed against the blue underwater tiles created a subtle, fascinating visual layer.

The post-processing followed a clean, bright path, steering clear of harsh contrasts to preserve gentle transitions across the pinks and oranges. Bringing out Fate/kaleid liner Prisma Illya this time—from location scouting and light manipulation to lens calibration—was all about naturally marrying the character's lively vitality with the refreshing coolness of the setting. I adore the final color palette; the camera's natural color rendering and delicate post-processing worked in harmony, and I hope this summer theme lets everyone experience a wonderfully refreshing magical vibe.
