[Nangong Yu cosplay] Zenless Zone Zero Angels of Delusion's Captain Lady

Bringing Zenless Zone Zero's Nangong Yu to life spanned a fairly long preparation period from unboxing the costume to finalizing the look. The Angels of Delusion captain's design—clashing black, white, and pink with a techwear backless cut—offers intense visual depth. I styled the wig days in advance; the black blunt-bang bob featuring vivid neon pink dip-dyed ends requires natural daylight to truly pop. Paired with red contact lenses and sharp contouring eye makeup, the overall demeanor had to capture that blend of tsundere attitude and total commanding authority.

The garment details deserve special mention. The front red-and-black plaid tie accented with a demonic cat-head brooch serves as the visual anchor of the ensemble. The dramatic backless cut is laced with criss-crossing thin white straps; to ensure the back curves stretched naturally while maintaining a snug fit, I used plenty of fashion tape to prevent shifting during dynamic poses. Over the black leather long gloves on my arms, I layered thick black plush warmers adorned with pastel blue ribbons; while rather warm in this weather, their tactile texture looks sensational on camera. Over-the-knee black leather boots paired with white platform open-toe sandals not only added physical height, but also visually elongated the legs, harmonizing flawlessly with the character's aesthetic.

Shooting outside at Xiamen Anime Convention benefited from fantastic natural light and ambiance. Photographer Govcz Xiaofashi XiYi truly understood this costume's dynamic strengths, guiding me through kinetic snapshots throughout. For instance, in the half-crouching shot holding the cat prop, expanding my silhouette required stabilizing my core while lifting one leg—a pose we tweaked multiple times to capture that weightless yet subtly aggressive stance. For the shots on the wooden bench, we explored varied poses: sitting with crossed legs, leaning slightly forward, or sitting sideways to reveal a sliver of thigh, brilliantly showcasing the glossy sheen of the black leather boots and the petal-pink skirt lining beneath. Reclining or facing away from the camera allowed the white thruster backpack and backless lacing to shine in harmony, crowned by an over-the-shoulder gaze into the lens that locked in the atmospheric tension.

The greatest thrill of cosplaying Nangong Yu is completely immersing oneself in that impeccably polished, ultra-wealthy captain persona. From fingertip tension to eye contact, every nuance must radiate her stylish, effortless swagger. The combination of wig and plush accessories trapped quite a bit of heat, but seeing the color fidelity and lighting textures on camera made every bit of hard work worthwhile. The intricate construction and rich accessories of this character leave room for further refinement, and I hope to integrate more lore-accurate elements into future posing. The convention crowd was wonderfully warm, and meeting fans who appreciated this design made the entire shooting experience an absolute joy.
