[Minami Kotori cosplay] Love Live!: Sweet Party Moments - Image 1

Today I'm sharing the official studio photoshoot of Minami Kotori in her idol stage outfit! For this shoot, I chose a pink-and-white plaid dress featuring white ruffled hemlines, accented by a white necktie tied with pink ribbons, and delicate golden lace trim along the edges. To authentically capture the character's cheerful energy, I accentuated the blush in my makeup and added sparkling glitter to the eye look. The wig was styled with long, light-brown straight hair, blunt straight bangs, and the signature green bow hair accessory at the crown, giving the overall styling a very high level of completion. This shoot took place in a white cyc studio in Zhanjiang, where the pure white seamless background was ideal for such a bright, vibrant theme. To complement the sweet aesthetic of the outfit, the set was decorated with an abundance of balloons, gift boxes, and colorful confetti scattered across the floor. The balloons—primarily in shades of pink, blue, and white—floated in the air and lay on the ground, adding rich layers of depth to the frame.

Throughout the shoot, the photographer continuously guided me through various energetic poses. For example, that pose balancing on one leg while cradling a polka-dot balloon in one hand genuinely tested core stability; wearing black platform shoes meant I had to balance carefully while maintaining an effortless, relaxed smile, requiring several attempts before capturing the most natural moment. For the lower half, I paired the outfit with pure White stockings (over-the-knee socks) that fit snugly without bunching at the knees, keeping the leg line sleek and smooth even when bending. These were paired with black platform Mary Jane shoes adorned with pink bows at the heels, beautifully echoing the garment's details. The lighting used was delightfully soft; the even flat lighting virtually eliminated harsh shadows, bringing out the saturation of the pink and white hues to perfection and leaving the entire frame looking exceptionally luminous.

The advantage of a studio shoot is having precise control over lighting and backgrounds, focusing all visual attention directly onto the character and the costume. The colorful confetti on set gently fluttered as I moved, creating vibrant dynamic motion in the snapshots. The overall atmosphere during shooting was very relaxed—everyone in the studio helped adjust balloon heights and reposition gift boxes just to build the perfect party scene. As for the outfit's fabric, structured textiles were selected so the pleats and ruffles retained their crisp shape during dynamic movements instead of draping flat against the body. The texture of the lace was also key; slightly stiffer lace stands out much better before the camera, providing defined layering. To match the party vibe, I calibrated my expression management—keeping eyes bright and smiles lively without showing fatigue. Continuously jumping and striking dynamic poses was physically demanding, but seeing the shots on the monitor made all the effort entirely worthwhile.

Regarding lighting coordination: despite the even studio lighting, the photographer added a rim backlight to separate me and the balloons from the background, ensuring the frame didn't look flat against the pure white cyclorama. Moving around the set required precise angle adjustments to prevent balloons from obstructing my face or casting unintended glares. The gift boxes on the floor were also rearranged multiple times to look casually scattered without appearing chaotic, all while matching the color scheme of the balloons. Managing these fine details truly demands immense patience. The shoes were actually quite heavy, though they made a delightfully crisp tap on the wooden floor. While shooting, I tried to keep my insteps extended to visually elongate my leg lines. I personally love this look—from the placement of the headwear to the harmony of the entire color palette, everything met my expectations. Heartfelt thanks to the photographer for their patient guidance; collaborating together brought this set of photos to life. This studio session taught me so much about controlling facial expressions and body tension before the camera, and I hope to present an even better side of myself to everyone going forward.
