From garment tailoring to final image delivery, polishing the nuances of this Navia look took an entire month.
First, addressing the wardrobe: the deep navy blue base is spliced with golden jacquard patterns, forming a vibrant Blue and Gold Dress color scheme. The skirt is constructed through multi-tiered fabric layers, where the outermost deep navy sharply contrasts with the amber-yellow inner lining. To recreate the structured silhouette from the original artwork, stiff crinoline netting was added to the lining, requiring careful smoothing during fitting. For the chest gears, metal buckles, and sapphire gems, I commissioned a prop-maker for custom metallic-finished PVC pieces, paired with a black lace high-collar choker and pearl drape chains that had to be dialed into the exact neck contours to prevent sagging. The wide-brimmed hat was embellished with purplish-blue roses and dangling tassel pendants, lending gorgeous dimension with every step.
For the wig, I used long pure-golden hair set into bouncy curls. To achieve an airy, voluminous wave, styling spray and pomade were applied generously, while the bangs and face-framing tendrils were repeatedly adjusted to flatter my face shape. I chose highly saturated blue contact lenses paired with soft pink blush under the eyes to evoke her signature spirited yet refined presence. The parasol prop was a visual cornerstone—featuring a gilded handle and vintage scrollwork, its yellow ruffles gathered like a flower when closed, while projecting commanding weight when unfurled.
Because her lore radiates confident poise, the posing could not afford to feel timid. I choreographed several dynamic stances and seated postures with the umbrella—such as crossing one leg or lounging perched on a chair—to harness the layered skirt tiers for added compositional tension. The lower-body styling is particularly striking: combining patterned navy wave Stockings with black ankle booties visually elongates the leg lines, with the boots' golden filigree echoing the overarching palette. The leg garter and gilded knee strap served as brilliant accents; though somewhat restrictive while walking, the resulting leg silhouette made it entirely worthwhile.
Convention crowds were thick, and navigating with such an extensive train laden with ornaments meant watching every step to avoid snags or trampling. During shooting, keeping the skirt's flaring sweep aligned required constant vigilance, often needing an assistant to fluff out folds behind me. Venue lighting cast spectacular textures across the blue-and-gold textiles while glinting off metallic hardware, making camera angles crucial. Though wearing the heavy ensemble was tiring, seeing that refined grandeur crystallized in the finalized frames made every effort count. We explored extensive choreography and styling techniques for this shoot, and I hope it offers useful insights for fellow cosplayers tackling this regal look.
