This costume, which had been packed away at home for nearly two years after being custom-made, finally met a studio set with a highly perfect match today. The scenery of this studio almost completely recreated the picture that emerged in my mind when I first got the costume: a deep-blue dark environment, a Gothic arched wooden window frame, white rose vines clinging to the window frame, and semi-translucent white gauze draperies falling to the ground. This kind of breathability interwoven with mystery and dreaminess is the true lifeforce background color this outfit should have.

From the perspective of costume materials, the overall look adopts a patchwork of deep blue and light grayish-blue, supplemented by semi-translucent sheer veils as embellishments for the shawl and cuffs. At the neckline is a layered black lace neckpiece, which both preserves the exquisite nature of the attire itself without losing a nimble and weightless texture. The orange-red slender strings and lace details adorning the shoulder-sleeves form a restrained color contrast. Special mention must be made of these white stockings, featuring delicate yet irregular dark patterns, which look highly soft inside the dimly lit studio. Combined with the semi-translucent white gloves, it makes the extension of the limb lines appear much more natural. This showcases the unique charm of Anime cosplay.

Regarding pose guidance, several different perspectives were chosen for presentation today. The cover selects this sitting pose (Picture 3), displaying a peaceful and calm sense of interaction. A blue light-glowing fish floats in the hands, with the gaze following the flowing light spots, beautifully showcasing the layers of the costume and revealing the edge of the thigh-high socks and the cutting lines of the neckline. Picture 5's side-turn glance emphasizes the flow of the hair strands and the tailoring of the costume's back, paired with floating luminous objects to stretch out the tension between the character and the scenery layout. Picture 6 chooses a slight top-down close-up close to the ground, paired with a powerful single-sided orange warm light hitting the face and hair strands, creating a dramatic clash with the extensive cold-blue tones of the environment. This warm light angle can quickly pull the visual focus to the character's emotional expression.

As for the details of the scene construction, the reflective material on the floor is highly critical. It reproduces the shimmering ripples of the water surface through physical reflection. Combined with the bright blue floating fish schools and crystal-clear bubble special effects added in post-production, it creates an exceptionally strong sense of immersion into the underwater world, presenting a masterful showcase of Underwater photography set design. The scattered pearls and transparent water droplets on the table, along with the blue glowing bodies floating on the floor, fill the gaps in the composition and make the interaction between the character and the environment look authentic.

Over the past year or so, I have actually tried building sets here and there, but either the style wasn't right or the light was insufficient—it always felt like it was missing that final touch. This time, the photographer Haimao (海猫) captured exactly that serene, clear, and bright feeling I wanted. The makeup was handled by teacher Lianlian (煉煉), and the pink-and-white gradient wig presented excellent layers under the lighting. The eye makeup not only enlarged the eye contour but also completed a wonderful and harmonious echo with the hair color. The gauze material of this outfit displays different light transmittance under the lamps; adjusting the angle just a tiny bit creates a distinct difference in the transparency presented in the frame. Shooting this type of theme, patient lighting adjustment is much more important than blindly clicking the shutter; it determines to a large extent whether the final cuts carry that underwater sense of breathability in this Cosplay photoshoot.

In the past, we were used to using large apertures to blur the background, but this time I intentionally left more environmental details, letting the arch windows, flowers, and veils become a part of the story under depth-of-field control. This combination of classical architectural elements and magical aquatic elements visually presents a fairy-tale-like sense of stability. The photographer was also restrained in handling the blue-light fish in post-production to avoid an influx of special effects, preserving the transparent and lightweight texture of the fish schools rather than simply pasting textures to fill it up.

Huge thanks to the studio owner for providing such a delicate layout, which drew a relatively complete period to our patient waiting. Shooting cosplay photos truly requires the perfect alignment of time, place, and people—suitable costumes, a suitable scene, suitable light and shadow, and a suitable photography team are all indispensable. Seeing this outfit wrapped in such an atmosphere within the frame, I also deeply realized the heart and soul condensed behind crafting a great photo. I hope these few final cuts can convey that soft yet slightly mysterious underwater atmosphere we wished to express, and serve to commemorate this two-year-long wait for the output.
