The CP32 Convention cosplay photo set of Skadi the Corrupting Heart cosplay from Arknights is finally curated and ready; the overall atmospheric presence of the photos was captured quite accurately.
Let's talk about the outfit styling first. The core design is a tri-color patchwork of red, white, and black. The upper body features a structured red corset with tailoring lines and unique cutouts, accented by silver round buttons to anchor the visual focus. The layered choker at the collar with black-and-white striped detailing, paired with a red bow tie, enriches the depth around the neck. The wide red sleeves with black lining create a voluminous silhouette without looking bulky. The gloves use a cool-toned white material that harmonizes with fair skin tones, balancing the color palette across the series. The lower half consists of a short red-and-black paneled hemline with black criss-cross straps, paired with boots featuring black-and-white strap detailing to make the entire look visually sharp.
For hair and headwear, I chose a long Silver-white hair cosplay wig, with bangs intentionally cut into textured, layered fringes across the forehead to suit the character's temperament. The slightly curved, pointed black witch hat serves as the styling anchor, adding a touch of mystery and fairytale elegance to the character.
As for props, the black thorn-like staff is the centerpiece of this look. The staff features an irregular silhouette with sharp, branching fronds and a matte lacquer finish. It felt lightweight in hand during shooting, and the photographer carefully echoed the lines of the staff with my body language, achieving a balance of strength and elegance.
Photography and post-production were massive highlights in this series. Looking at the full-body composition in Photo 1, the giant black skeletal prop in the back not only established spatial depth in the background, but also created a striking light-dark contrast with the red-and-white outfit in the foreground. Post-added glowing white fairies floating in the air, red threads spiraling along the staff's edges, and large swathes of cool cyan lighting together generated that quiet, oppressive aura of "diving into the deep ocean."
The close-up shots in Photos 2 and 3 showcase even richer post-processing ideas. Photo 2 incorporates a red-blue chromatic aberration effect, delivering a distinct glitch art and cyberpunk feel, which—paired with light bleed blooming around hair edges—makes the character's silhouette look ethereal. In Photo 3, shallow depth-of-field blur accentuates the close-up of the eyes, with cool blue-white bokeh floating around to reinforce an aloof, otherworldly presence.
The venue was quite crowded at CP32; to capture this sense of isolation, the photographer deliberately sought out a relatively open corner and guided my staging to bypass cluttered backgrounds. Cosplaying a look with heavy wig styling and large props is always physically and mentally demanding, but seeing that cool, alluring, and quiet atmosphere captured in the final photos makes all the hard work worthwhile. Overall, this was a fun and enjoyable convention photoshoot, and I hope it conveys the unique charm beneath the deep ocean to fellow fans who love this series.
