After wrapping up this Cinnamoroll Ganyu cosplay photoshoot early this month, I finally have the time to organize and share it. Regarding the pairing of Cinnamoroll and Ganyu, ever since I saw the fan art, I kept telling myself "I absolutely have to do this once." Taking advantage of the HEYTEA x Cinnamoroll Ganyu collaboration this time, I finally put the plan and costume materials into action.
Compared to the original settings in Genshin Impact, this costume incorporates a lot of lace, straps, and light blue and white matching elements to create a soft and cute style. To embody Ganyu's "Cocogoat" trait and Cinnamoroll's round, cute feel, a fluffy wig with light blue highlights was chosen. For the headpiece, I intentionally downsized the proportions of Cinnamoroll's ears and hairpins so they could seamlessly blend with Ganyu's original horns without looking out of place visually. The makeup was adjusted to be as translucent and soft as possible, using pinkish-purple eyeshadow for transitions to soften the sharp lines, making it better fit the overall atmosphere and this cream-toned backdrop. Especially for the blush part, I chose to lightly sweep a small area to highlight the character's natural youthful look.
During the shoot, we specifically chose to stand in front of the blinds where natural afternoon light streams in, using a high-key soft lighting method to make the whole image look as bright and translucent as if a filter were applied, providing an excellent skin texture even before post-processing. In terms of props, apart from the large plush Cinnamoroll doll that I had to hold in my hands, a large bear was purposely placed nearby to enhance the visual layers of the frame. However, wearing this kind of deep-V tube top along with a jacket during a photoshoot carries a risk of wardrobe malfunction; I had to frequently adjust the shoulder straps and pull up the jacket during breaks. It was quite a hassle for half the day, but it yielded results that I am highly satisfied with. The material of this outfit was chosen from a breathable yet draped fabric, maintaining a beautiful fluffiness in front of the lens without looking bloated.
Regarding the collaboration drinks, Ganyu's version is indeed sweet, sour, and highly refreshing, which perfectly matches the sweet keynote of this shoot. When shooting cosplay works with this kind of soft and cute theme, the coordination between lighting and expressions is crucial. Whether looking down at the toy or looking up at the camera, a natural sense of laziness must flow out to prevent the overall styling from looking stiff. Looking at the raw photos at that time, I felt this set had a strong sense of transparency. In post-processing, I slightly adjusted the overall cool tone to emphasize the blue-and-white contrast, making it a fairly successful attempt.
I am quite satisfied with the overall concept and post-processing of this work. Lately, I've really grown to love this creative approach of combining a character's cute points with Anime elements, and I will likely try more character interpretations with such cute elements in the future.
