Once you put on this Genshin Impact Barbara outfit, you need to rebalance the overall center of gravity and silhouette. The dark blue fabric at the neckline creates a distinct contrast against the white base fabric, topped with gold embroidered patterns that catch natural light with lovely light-and-shadow variations. The white hairpiece on top features a detailed golden badge ornament, securely fastened with bobby pins so it won't shift from wind or head turns. Today, we specifically chose an outdoor plaza for this location shoot. The vast spread of natural light hitting the outfit makes the pure white base color look luminous and translucent, rather than the harsh, flat white you get in studio lighting.

As for the wig, it's a light blonde curly style. To keep the bangs from flying around in the wind, I specifically set the roots with hairspray. The curly ends on both sides rest right above my shoulders and collarbone; this length prevents them from getting tangled with the wide bell sleeves. When doing the "prayer" pose, bending both arms naturally in front of my chest with hands clasped actually covers part of the high-waistline pleats, making the overall tailoring look visually more balanced.

The design of the skirt hem was a pleasant surprise; despite having many layers, the material is very lightweight. The outer white layer combined with the dark blue wavy hem at the bottom creates a soft, flowing movement instantly whenever I walk or spin. The cuffs are dark blue bell-shaped sleeves with slightly darker gold trim around the edges—a distressed feel that matches the costume lore without overly reflective sheen that might look like cheap plastic.

The biggest challenge during a location shoot lies in the background. Today's spot was right outside an anime convention venue, with crowds rushing back and forth, dragging luggage, and walking around. However, in terms of framing, if you use a wide aperture to blur the crowds into soft patches of color, it actually highlights the clean clarity of the main subject. Since Barbara is inherently a healing character in lore, I chose not to hold complex props today. Simply clasping my hands and slightly lowering my head toward the camera was enough to convey a sense of serenity. Compared to combat characters with dramatic movements, this style at an anime convention really relies on the lighting ambiance.

The makeup also leans toward a natural nude look—eyelashes were kept light rather than overly dense, and the eyeliner only slightly extended at the outer corners, giving the eye makeup a very clear, pure look. Highlighting was focused mainly on the center of the face to soften facial contours.

A lot of thought went into the structural design of the sleeves and skirt. For instance, the cuffs feature a subtle outward flare rather than a tight fit, ensuring arm movements remain unconstrained. Standing on the plaza for about two hours and shooting around twenty different poses, the waist cinching proved reasonably comfortable without making me feel suffocated.

The overall color scheme is primarily white and blue, accented with gold trimming. While this palette might look somewhat dingy or dull in a dark indoor environment, in high-contrast outdoor lighting, the pure cleanliness of the white is maximized. The overall cosplay photography experience was wonderful; despite having to dodge crowds to find angles, the final photos made the outing completely worthwhile. As a cosplay enthusiast, carefully preparing this outfit and capturing ideal photos is a deeply satisfying journey in itself.

Handling the skirt hem while moving around is actually something that requires practice beforehand. Because the skirt is quite poofy, bending down or sitting can easily leave harsh creases on the outer fabric, so I maintained a standing or slightly bent-knee posture for most of the day. The wig material can also feel a bit stuffy after wearing it for a long time, but you get used to it after a while.

Facing the camera, you have to imagine yourself enveloped in an atmosphere filled with kindness and healing, keeping your gaze very soft. Personally, I feel that in bright outdoor lighting, you don't need overly exaggerated expressions; a subtle, gentle smile paired with a prayer gesture is more than enough to recreate Barbara's true aura. This serene state actually yields better photos than forced cute poses.

Wrapping up today's shoot feels like fulfilling a personal wish. Although the crowd was large and the location wasn't particularly secluded, being able to focus on portraying a character's essence in such a bustling environment was a truly rewarding experience.
